AIBU to ask how to get the best deal from Premier Inn?

I am visiting a relative next week and would prefer, I think, to stay in a local B and B or Premier Inn, I know there is one nearby.
If you have experience of Premier Inns - how will o get the best deal? I will probably going back to my relatives for breakfast so just need the room.

if you do plan to phone, be aware that the cost of 0844 and 0871 numbers has just rocketed - look on saynoto0870 first for the alternative.

If you do a search on nearby Premier Inns they'll tell you the price for all PIs near in the area. I'm staying at one next week and for travelling another 5 miles (towards our next destination too) we got a room £10 cheaper than the most local.

Breakfasts are extra, so just don't tick the box for that.

We usually pay the cheapest price (you're fixed in and cannot get a refund or cancel) but we stay at them so often if we did have to miss one night I figure we've saved it over time.

we were just in one with 2 teens.

DD14 was in the sofa bed - size of a single bed, comfortable.

DD13 was on the "trundle" bed - pulls out from under the nice comfy big double/queen/king/whatever it is bed and legs fold up - it was not long enough for DD13 at 5'8, and it was not comfy enough either, until they gave us a couple of extra duvets to put underneath her - thin mattress with springs she could feel.

Oh well fingers crossed ds will be comfortable. It's £150 for two nights including breakfast and was so easy to book , I'm not surprised they're so popular. It will be my first time staying in one , I'll report back later

We stayed at the one near the Harry Potter studios and it was lovely. Family room with a double and two good sized singles. Was quite rural apart from the M25, although you could hardly hear it, and right next to a Beefeater in a converted water mill. It was gorgeous, all the beams and mill wheel were still there. The river was full of trout and ducks and there was a lovely meadow with a playground for the kids. We slept really well and had a fantastic breakfast in the Beefeater the next day. I think we had to book the breakfast in with the room but it was still only £79 or so for the four of us. Absolute bargain I thought. It was like a little holiday.

I think the pullout beds are really uncomfortable unless you have small children, mine really moaned about them once they got to about 13.

I've got workers booked into a twin room at the moment where the second bed is a pull out. It's fine. However I've found in family rooms where you have two children the third bed is often smaller.

The beds can be pull out , I have found it's fifty fifty but they are all the length of a single bed.

In a family room do you get a full size bed for the children? I presumed you did as they stated 'children' were under 16. My 14 year old is 5'9 ish, will he be ok ?

We went to Premier Inn once the day we had a lot of viewings on our house and didn't want to mess it up before they arrived.

The entire family of 4 had a massive cooked breakfast and they only charged us for 1 adult. They decided not to charge me as I arrived 15 minutes after everyone else and the kids are free.

I love Premier Inn breakfasts we go there a lot now just for breakfast :)

You can sign up with them and then a couple of times a year they will email you when the room sales start.

I've phoned & been told it's more expensive to book over the phone. Their best prices are online always.

if you call the one you want to stay in and ask them either for their best price (then say no, there's always a better best price!) or that you've seen £x online can they beat it? 9/10 they will (as they don't have to give any commission to an agent/advertiser)

Booking online around three or four weeks ahead or waiting for the £19 sale is the cheapest way.
Also rooms tend to be cheaper on Thursdays or Sundays. I love Premier Inns, I've stayed in most of the other budget hotel chains and always prefer a Premier Inn.
Once we booked a family room but it wasn't ready on our arrival. It was late and the manager couldn't find the pull out bed. By the time he found it the DC were both asleep on the sofa bed so we told him to leave it. When we checked out in the morning he refunded the room and breakfast that we hadn't even paid for under the Good Night Guarantee, we didn't even ask for him to.

Beginning to feel a bit sorry for Travelodge now! I must say when we did stay there last year (no PI available in the area) it looked to me they had upped their game considerably!

We love premier inns. I ususlly try & book when they have a sale on. Travelodge are donetimes chester but Premier is much nicer.
Book online for the best available rates.
