AIBU?

AIBU to wish people would stop staring!

I have recently noticed people having a good old stare at me. Not a discrete glance but a full on stare as I walk past, actually turning their heads to watch me once I have already passed them. I tend to catch them staring out of the corner of my eye, then if I turn round a few steps on they are still staring. What are they looking at? I am fully clothed, no distinguishing features. AIBU to want them to stop?

I am almost tempted to shout "what are you looking at have I got a tampon on my head" which I once heard a teenager say to her friend I'm obviously not gong to say that

we get it all the time but thats because im ugly as hell and DCs disabled. thats reason enough for people to stare.

Have you been smoking the ole marijawana? That can make you paranoid.

Or.......get a friend, sit down and have a good chat and after a while....ask him/her 'have you noticed anything different about me?'

If not forget it.

Some people like a good old stare, in some countries it's what they do, isn't considered impolite.

The other day I caught someone doing a slow body scan from my toes to my head. By the time they got to my head they received a big 'Ummmm, yes?' from me.

I bet you're gorgeous and forgotten about it. As we tend to do after having children.

Either that or you live in Royston Vasey.

I'm not starin at them. I tend to get that feeling of being watched and clock them out of the corner of my eye. Maybe they are just having a good old nosy and don't realise I have clocked them.

Well, you are staring at them...or you wouldn't see them staring at you would you?

Do you look like a sleb?

Did you forget to mutate back into human form after your last trip to your home planet?

Are you shouting at your DC with three fags hanging out of your mouth?

Or, are you actually just ten times more gorgeous than you know?

Could it be that your DC are gorgeous? I'm guilty of unashamedly gawping at gorgeous babies. Just can't help it. It takes so much self control not to start stupid conversations with their mothers and put on stupid voice telling them how beautiful they are.

Well either you are a hot topic of local gossip or there is something unusual about your appearance. Whichever it is, it is nevertheless very rude for people to stare. All you can do is try to ignore it.

No post it's on my back, no trousers at half mast. I think people are just being nosy but I find it off putting and want to trip over my feet!

You're wondering wtf they're staring at

And I'm wondering wtf you're asking strangers on the internet for?

How could we possibly know? Grin

Well, you might unwittingly be staring at them to check whether they're staring at you. They're probably wondering why you're examining them. Grin

Not that I get a lot of stares but I just tend to stare back, let them know they've been caught out. But bizarre the starings just started with you.

Maybe you're walking about suspiciously, eyes darting from side to side trying to catch people out who are staring at you. And people are walking past thinking, hey up, whats wrong with this woman, and turning back for a second glance. Only to find you have turned round and you are still staring at them Grin just a thought.

No idea why, but leave it 20 years or so and you'll become invisible.

Report
Mamafratelli · 24/05/2013 14:49

Live in a small place but don't know the people doing the staring. I'd ask them what they were staring at if I did.
