Garden fires on a sunny day-how considerate.

Just wanted a quick rant about garden fires! It is probably the third nice day we have had since last year and the neighbours have decided it would be a great idea to start a fire at noon. It is still going on now billowing thick smoke across all our gardens which means I can't even have the back door open and hear the birds sing (and honestly I really just wanted to sunbathe on my day off!). I feel like its fine to have a fire but jesus think of your neighbours who also might want to enjoy the lovely weather. Pretty inconsiderate in my opinion and just wanted to get that off my chest. The end.

Bleh horrible, good idea to report them though because it's much more anonymous which means they won't be able to throw you on the fire phew

I am a renter and I am moving in the next few weeks so I will just let it go but I hope you manage to get results, do post here if you do, would be lovely to hear of a success story dealing with really inconsiderate neighbours!

Op, I feel your frustration. The first good day of weather here and one of the neighbours was at it. It really pisses me off. Unfortunately they are dog rough so I wouldn't attempt to ask them to put it out, they would probably chuck me on the bloody thing!

Also, skank neighbours at the back of us have music blaring out too. Absolutely no consideration for other people. It will be like this until October like it was last year. Except this time I'm reporting them to Env.Health. I've had enough Smile

haha that did make me chuckle. Whats getting to me right now is the fact that even with the windows and doors closed I can still smell it, its actually stronger now than earlier and its given me a headache. Will have to see what tomorrow brings Hmm

There's a bit wasteland behind my house going all the way up the street and teenagers have taken to setting a fire on there most nights (fire engines had to be called last week) so I find I cannot leave my bedroom window open (i have it cracked open all year round otherwise i feel a bit stuffy) and then i sweat to death. But at least they have the courtesy to wait until after 7.

Aww Tilly I feel for you Sad such a waste of effort having to rewash/dry. I feel like some people are a bit mental? To me it just seems like common sense to be courteous of others but apparently not.

I had my washing out yesterday and at 3pm i opened my back door to be greeted by the smell of smoke. I quickly got my washing in but it was too late...and I absolutely HATE the smell of smoke so most needed done again :( (pjs etc)

Successfully managed to delete my account not the thread Shock, spoke to mumsnet and they said I had to reregister but my old name is not able to be used yet, hence the new name. So have just accepted that its 'one of those days' and I should take a nap. Thank you everyone for the comments they eased my frustration a lot

www.gov.uk/garden-bonfires-rules sorry, would seem I made that up. Feel for you though, very rude to do it in the middle of the day. I'd be especially annoyed if I'd put washing out!

I thought it was illegal to start a bonfire during the day - had to be sometime after 6pm or have I made that up??

you dont need to ask for this thread to be deleted, its really annoying especially when I have my washing out, I like a good fire as much as the next man but wait till the evening. rant away

You can report it and ask for it to be deleted.

You're right though - they are really inconsiderate neighbours.

I'll be honest I have the balls of a mouse and feel sick at the thought of it. I shouldn't have started this post and don't know how to delete it. But thanks for listening.

Huh?

You are allowed to ask older people to stop doing something if it's annoying. Go round and ask them to stop - I dare you!

I am in my mid 20s and they are mid 40s I feel like it would be inappropriate for me to do this, I think they will think I am a cheeky so and so for asking so decided to vent on here instead. Blush

Have you been round to ask them to put it out?
