AIBU?

To think my singing voice is much better since having DD?

I used to sing at school but lost my singing voice when I stopped using it and got into smoking behind the bike shed and snogging boys

I could be a bit delusional but I swear since having DD (who is 6 months old) my singing voice has got much better and I can now actually hold a tune even if it is Teddy Bears Picnic

And all because of singing made up songs and nursery rhymes to her ALL THE LIVE LONG DAY.

Anyone else find this? And should we start an MN choir to rival Military Wives? Grin

I'm not a great singer but I definitely did find my voice improved after having DCs. In my case I thought it was getting lots of practice of simple tunes and feeling a bit more confident singing in public.

See that's weird (about the voice dropping) as I was very firmly a first alto yet can now happily get the top A's of a Soprano range.

Certainly during pregnancy I used to fling pens about whilst gesticulating have a looser grip - maybe there's a more permanent relaxation change of some muscles?

I could not sing before DD came along, I could hear I was out of tune but couldn't find the right notes, now I can sing in tune mostly, I put it down to practise and fear of social embarrassment - you even have to sing at swimming lessons! But I guess a physical change would also make sense.

During my first pregnancy, my voice changed from the treble I'd been keeping going throughout university and for a few years afterwards (choral scholarship required that type of voice and then joined similar choirs after I left) and became much richer in tone and my range also gradually became lower.
I just see it as one of those things, like the fact that my feet went up a size and the back/ribs part of my bra size increased.

I think the same, though i have never been fair of voice I have no qualms about belting out the classics a mouse lived in a windmill in public and am sure i rock it! Maybe all that relaxin during pregnancy affects your vocal cords as well as all your ligaments? or just my brain

I know what you mean.

I used to lead the singing at the baby group we went to, because no-one else wanted to do it. Re-discovered my love of singing, although at only 6 months in you won't yet be sick to the back teeth of Row Row Row your Boat or Wind the Bobbin Up.....

Now sing in a Parent Choir at School
