AIBU?

To think dd's class photos will look more dated in 20 years than mine?

Just got the proofs of dd's class photo. It is made up of photos of 3 or 4 kids in silly poses photo-shopped together to make one big panorama against a stark white background. AIBU to think this will look very dated very soon, whereas mine from 20+ years ago with rows of kids sitting and standing on benches aren't particularly dated now?

Our school has tried these, they have also recently surveyed parents to see if we would prefer traditional or this alternative style (her individual one was even worse ) I am hoping majority have opted for traditional.....

I quite like them, DDs school only do them in Year R and 6. Her YR pic is fab, not forced at all - all friendship groups, big genuine smiles .

I don't have a problem with them looking dated, that's the point isn't it? (ie embarrassing pics of days gone by Grin )

I like them. My DSs school only does it for reception and year 6 though so only 2 photos per child to buy. Ours comes with a frame if you pay a bit extra so they will be going on the wall as soon as I work out where I can put 8 of them together.

They haven't done DD's yet but I am hoping for an old skool one.

I fondly remember whole school picture day and the scramble to be on the end of a row - where if you were quick and according to legend you could run round the back and be in the end result twice.

I don't see the problem with things looking dated really. It will be dated!

I actually liked DSs playgroup one (he was right in the middle though Grin )
But I didn't buy it cause it was just too long!

YANBU
They are too big to put in my album, don't fit any standard frame and are totally useless.

Another teacher here who hates them. I didn't buy my DC's when their school tried it for 2 years. They ahve since reverted to traditional ones.

Where I teach we not only have these group poses... but we have to have themed props with them too!

I loathe them, children look very forced, not unusual and quirky as the company (and school) seem to think, completely naff. Having said that, generally get nagged by DC into buying them for them to remember their classmates by. Agree that traditional style is timeless and much better

Thats a shame i love looking at my class photos and trying usually failing to remember everyones names

Our primary did them for two years, then saw sense and reverted to the traditional ones.

Yes, this pissed me off also, in nursery - she didn't actually play with the people in her little group but others from the rest of the class, unfortunately we didn't get a photo of the whole class, just her group in a long long drawn out pose.

I loved her teachers but I don't want them on my wall!

DS's school has them up in the Reception area and they are much admired by visitors, but parents don't seem to like them to buy for themselves from what I've heard

YANBU! I hate them, too, but bought them anyway.

YANBU. Although my class photos from high school are obviously of the 80s. So much hair!

Presumably somebody must be buying them, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it.

You see, I hate it, but I will but it because it's my pfb's first year at school, and if I buy it this year I will probably buy it next year, and every year thereafter, and because I've bought her's I'll have to buy all of dd2's too. They really have us over a barrel. I may do a little survey in the playground and if others feel the same way I'll start a campaign to bring back old skool class photos!
