I like them! DS always freezes on the spot, looks around and says 'who said that??' with a look of confusion. Never gets old.

In Sainsburys today.

"this is a colleague announcement. Will joe blogs come to customer services."

Few minutes passed...

Few minutes passed

"this is a colleague announcement. Will someone find joe blogs and drag him to customer services!"

Made me chuckle!

I watched a programme about the tube recently. It was amazing how many fainting incidents they had at one station in the space of an hour because it was hot and people were dehydrated. So yes, they need telling Grin

I do like a happy chirpy announcement. Gives me something to grumble and mither about.

I too get irritated by the train/ underground announcements.

Especially the ones that tell you not to slip in wet weather, and the ones on the underground that when it's hot recommend you to carry a bottle of water. Are they afraid of getting sued if anyone gets dehydrated?

oh god there is someone exactly like that in the Gloucester Asda!

I haven't seen him for a while, but he used to go on 'go and have a look at the turkeys in aisle 7, they are real beauts and you can even have them ready stuffed to save you having to work, go on, no excuse not to have a roast dinner this weekend'

He was a dear.

In fact I've posted about the Asda announcer before and despite not mentioning the location that time someone knew exactly who I was talking about. Hope someone can come along and tell me he's still there.

There used to be a lovely man who did the announcements in Newton Abbot Asda , not sure if hes still around or not but didn't hear him last few times we were there.

In his broad Devon accent he would chatter on " Today we have some special offers pork chops. I'm having them for my tea tonight so I'll get the missus to make a nice mash to go with them. She does a tasty gravy does the wife. You can't beat that, a good hearty meal ...."

I like listening them to try and listen out for the secret message that means there's a shoplifter. I've yet to here a rumble being announced.

Train announcements are the best.

I was on a train back from London some time ago and they announced 'please do NOT put your head out of the window whilst the train is in motion'

Why would they need to announce that? Have trains got Vivian from the Young Ones types travelling on them?

I love it when they announce something wrong and then end up laughing at themselves.

I like the man from the phone department in our Tesco. I think he's hoping for a job in advertising, he gets really into it. Never have I heard a man so passionate about his iPhone with free texts and 300 minutes. He makes me giggle every time.

I work in a supermarket. Trust me non of the staff like giving them. Well I dont, I avoid at all costs. Any time I have been foreced to give one it dosent make sense (I have a degree and cant string together a few words saying get out we are closed) or i completely say the wrong thing and end up laughing.

They should be banned

to my duff ears all Tannoy announcements screech something along the lines of "the train leaving platform 9 at static will be calling at static and static".

Normally I'd agree but the young man who does the announcements in our local Sainsbury's is obviously hoping a TV producer is doing their shopping and will pluck him from obscurity. He gives it the full-on Tony Blackburn... Confused

They always sound to me like someone found the one guy on the staff with a real fear of public speaking, told him his hamster just died and that from now on he has to wear a dress to work THEN forced him to make the announcement!
