TO EXPECT A THANK YOU FROM A TEENAGER

I gave a much sought after concert ticket to a friends 15 year old daughter, as I could no longer go and she really wanted to go but didn't get a ticket. Her mum was appreciative and said thanks but nothing from her daughter!I feel a little offended by this, surely a simple thank you text message isn't much to ask? Basic good manners in my opinion!

that's up to the parent/s I think, to check it's been done. I am delighted that, despite my kids having been appalling teens, I currently see thank you cards from them on peoples' mantlepieces', completely unprompted by me - the message/drill went in - phew. My SIL's kids never send thank yous, even last year after receiving £60 in cash as a wedding present [judgy pants icon]

some children seem to be taught please and thank you manners. Others are not. It can be a bit of a shock

Hmm, I would ask her mum if she had a good time. Maybe this will prompt some sort of thanks!

You have reminded me to post my DD's thank you letters...she is 14 and I expect her to write one for a present/money given...

I would expect a 'thank you' too (just a text as you say) - but wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't until after the gig.

Could you please not shout in your thread titles :)

I gave away a ticket to a very big concert complete with a hotel room when I coudn't go due to a crisis at work and was a bit put out not to get a thank you, but then a day or two after the event I received a thank you card and a tour t shirt from her so you may still get a thank you
