AIBU?

To decide I would never be life long freinds with someone based on thier footwear?

So today I met a nice woman, collecting her child from the same school as mine. I'd never seen her before (I usually collect from after school club), and we passed a few words about the weather.

Then I noticed what she was wearing on her feet, and started to wonder if I could ever be good friends with her. Confused

AIBU?

I wore flip flops into the Autumn. It's because I love 'em! (Sorry, digression)

Skinit, you are missing the point...I wasn't sneering at the shoes because they were cheep. I didn't want to say what shoes they were....I someone wore these www.net-a-porter.com/product/101515 on the school run I would be thinking the same thing.

Converse wearers, on the other hand I feel drawn to. Especially worn out holey converse in once bright colours. They scream "I'm safe but fun" Beware if you wear such an footwear, I might try to befriend you.

Swaskita sandals would put me right off someone

Really, LittleOneMum? What was she wearing? I haven't a clue what my friends were wearing on the day I met them.

Grin I looked up Lelly Kelly. They only go to size 2 maximum, and my feet aren't quite that teeny! So I'll to find some other summer footwear now.

I believe that the ugg-slippers LOOK vaguely Ugg-like in that they're grey or black or brown but they're a lot flimsier than a real Ugg....OP...I have some which I wear in the garden a lot...and those who have been mean...I know a single Mother of three who wore flip flops into Autumn as she had no money for shoes for herself...it may even have been her you were taking to...or someone like her... She works and pays her own rent and as such she has barely any cash spare...what she does have goes on her kids.

I hate seeing people sneer at Mothers who are poorer and have crappy clothes or inappropriate shoes....it's just despicable.

Aren't those Uggs slippers like you'd wear in the house on a cold winter's day? Do people actually wear them OUT? (I only ever wear trainers or flip flops, so I am not a shoe-fanista, but EVEN I wouldn't wear slippers on the school run).

You met a nice woman. Which kind/type of footwear is irrelevant. I suspect this OP is joking - i really hope so!

They ride up above the ankle when I sit down, exposing a good two inches of gorilla fur. And I thought it was just a myth that mummies were too busy and distracted to dress themselves.

If you were wearing ankle length trews, how would anyone see your fuzzy legs? Confused

YANBU Lynette. I am a footwear judger. I will not even LOOK at anyone wearing trainers if they have not been participating in a physical activity.

Hey you lot. I rushed for the commuter train yesterday with sick DS strapped to my front, and it wasn't until half way through the journey that I realised I was wearing a fetching combo of ankle length trousers, loafers, no socks - and here's the shuddersome thing - wild overgrown unshaven legs. To work.

I would hope you had the kindness to overlook my hideousness below the ankle and be my friend.

I've never heard of Uggs, so would that mean we could be friends?

I would love a pair of UGGS and will buy some next year I hope.
When I opened the thead I thought the shoes in question would be MBK jobs. I loathe those shoes with a passion reserved for few things.
At DDs last school, there were a coterie of lovely fragrent wealthy mummies who had MBK competitive whinging.

I have seen some things on this thread, it's taken me to a whole new shoe world which I didn't know existed! Love the fish flops tho Grin

I have real uggs, well ones made in Australia not the American brand. They are comfy and warm in the winter so ner Grin.

Fake uggs do look shit, especially when the bottom sinks to one side!

Ah, I probably would pass judgement on uggs. Do you mean the knitted ones that look like you have an old man's cardigan wrapped around your ankle?
I wouldn't consider "fake" to be more of a problem than real ones though, at least the owner hadn't wasted a lot of money on them.

I liked the hoof boots, not so sure about the fish flops. Suspect they might smell.

Fish flops? Can't say I'm really sole-d on them.

Did you see what I did there?Grin

She probably doesn't have money for "better" footwear. Not really worth posting about and sniggering about.
