Just read the book today. Makes a hell of a lot of sense, I'm on day 2.

Yesterday was my hardest. Today was more just struggling with the habit, no glass when cooking etc. Also had a headache all day and been abit irritatable, feel noise sensitive.

Ideally I want to get to Xmas. But I'll get to 28 days 1st.

I've drank every night (bar maybe 10 or so dry nights) for the past 4 years. I don't get drunk, hate being drunk in fact just 2/3 glasses a night x

Hi, I've been doing Sober October so day 28 now. I come from a family of alcoholics & have struggled with drinking myself since I was a teenager. This is the third year I have managed to do October but drinking gradually increased after the month ended. I have previously given up drinking for a few years before having my kids & while feeding. It always seems to creep back though.

In comparison to how I used to drink years ago my most recent drinking was much better, but still way more than recommended at around 4-6 cans of lager a night. I also have lots of medication for various conditions so my organs must have been screaming in pain. Ideally, I know I should just carry on not drinking, but can I do it?

Day 25. Still feeling tired, I shouldn't be surprised after 15 years of drinking really.

Hi Mad, 18days is great though, if you can do it once you can do it again. And if from now on you have a few every three weeks or so that's not so bad.

Day 15 today. Feeling so much better and more optimistic for the future. I think one the reasons I put it off for so long was the fear of failure. I hohope to be able to moderate in the future, if I can't I'm confident thithis will be much easier next time. I've broken my duck if you like.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Week days should be a bit easier.

It takes up to 10 days for alcohol to leave your body and 30 days to detox. Some neurological functions can take up to 6 months.

Thanks Bristol, 6 hours sleep last night! Woo-hoo! A record, still feeling a bit shut, achy joints, headache etc. Just an extended hangover really which I guess is exactly what detox is.

Sleep disruption can last up to two months apparently.
Today was day 7

Hey born.

All good here. Yes last night was my hardest. Tonight much better.

The same really I thought I would feel amazing, apart from really good sleep I am still waking up ratty (maybe I'm just not a morning person)

Noticed I'm a lot more attentive at work

Very similar to you, not a heavy drinker but a frequent one.

Still wanting for the extra stone of weight to shift as yet not a pound as gone

Hope I didn’t kill this thread😬😬😬 How is everyone? Friday night especially hard to keep alcohol free. I ended up going to bed really early.

I’ve not had a drink for 5 days now but I’m disappointed that I haven’t seen or felt any “real” benefits yet. I’m not a very heavy (more a very frequent) drinker so I didn’t usually have hangovers, but still I was expecting to feel fresher and have more energy. How is everyone else feeling?

Oops posted too soon!

I generally drink too much. I probably average about 2-3 drinks a night but it seems to be EVERY night. Feel sluggish and fat and poor. On day 5 without booze but feeling itchy today. Tell me about all the great reasons to keep going😕

Not too bad today, felt a bit of an "itch around" five. A bit more sleep helped, didn't wake up till 5am.

Long history, started drinking at about 14, but drinking every night for about 15 years with the odd break. I'm 50. Recently I got to over 150 units a week - couple of bottles of wine plus every night.

I went dry for about a week, which was pretty horrid, 2 or 3 hours sleep a night and feeling hungover all day. Then slipped back for a few days. Day 3 now and slept 6 hours last night.

I'm big into ginger and lemon tea!

Hey octsober, would love it if we could support each other a little on here?

Last night I had one of the best nights sleep ever, I was expecting sleep to improve but not on the second night.

Had some fever tree ginger beer last night over ice, was a nice drink to look forward too.

Feeling positive 😁

What's your history?
