Yes. He is wonderfully optimistic and even-tempered, which is a much needed contrast in the house to my own personality.

DP is cloudy natured. A big, black cloud of doom swollen to bursting with rain. Yeah, it's fun round ours!

Happy and light in a calm way, I love that about him, he's optimistic and sweet and generally smiley - hes a very peaceful and uplifting person to be around.

Previously dated someone who was the zany and excitable side of sunny and though fun to be around; it was like dating dating a damn golden retriever.
My god that got old quick, I am generally a happy and positive person but that bouncy bouncy man, frolicking around the flat, laughing everyday at the noise the toaster made- it put me off. He married a woman who runs a nursery and used to be a childrens entertainer, they are very well matched

That’s made me smile @SpaceJamtart, I have a friend who is of a similar vintage & their DP is fortunately a complementary calming presence. Big “CBeebies presenter”energy, which is great in small doses but my goodness I could not live with them.

DH is quite dour and catastrophises a lot, but I’ve learned to ignore it. I’m quite easily pleased and little things make me happy, like sunshine and a cup of coffee. We balance each other out.

Yes, we both are. He has more get up and go than me though, which I'm learning to do more.

Ha I married a sarcastic goth who would be horrified at the thought of being sunny. He’s not especially grumpy or miserable, but a little ray of sunshine he ain’t!

Very much so.
He is a sanguine choleric and I am a melancholic phlegmatic.
Completely different personalities that compliment each other. Took a long time to accept each other and realise we fit each other very well.

Yes he is thankfully and a good balance for me who tends towards the negative at times.

No I wouldn't say so he's more the calm quiet type, he has the odd 'sunny' moment but mostly just a really happy calming presence. You can be a positive person but still fairly quiet

No, more 'dark rainy cloud' natured.

Now he has given up a very stressful job he is sunny natured. He has had cancer three times and his kids tried to steal his life savings so we are NC with them. He has to attend hospital three times a week for treatment but he still remains upbeat and cheerful 90% of the time.

I've lived with miserable scrotes and never will again. They cause damage you don't even realise.

No…but I think it’s an act sometimes. He says when he was at school he was bullied by other boys for being too ‘sunny’ and enthusiastic about things so learned to never show if he was feeling happy.

Unfortunately that’s carried through to adulthood and he still finds it very difficult to express happiness other than through sarcasm. People can find him quite gruff and difficult to talk to. I know him underneath it all though and he’s really one of the kindest, loving people I’ve met.

Yes. It makes such a difference to my life. We have a lot of fun and laugh a lot. Only downside is he can’t really cope when I’m feeling blue. He tries to chivvy me out of it after a day. Also he won’t fall out with people even if they are unreasonable, he just cools the relationship. He says life’s too short for the negativity it would bring. Not sure if I admire the sentiment or finding maddening.

In general no. We very much come across as grumpy and sunshine. That said he has more faith in humanity in general and I dislike humanity in general.

However on a daily basis I'm generally the happy cheerful one and he is a man of few words and tends to look like he is scowling and can seem abrupt. We used to work together and people would always assume that he was the scary one (unfortunately my job role was far more cutthroat and the one that needed hard decisions).

However it has often been mentioned that the only time he lights up is with me and the DC. The grumpy scowling man also sends me videos of cute baby animals because it makes me smile. He gets excited when he finds a cool lego kit for the DC and spent an hour gathering samples for the dc to look at under their new microscope grinning when he found a cool leaf they would like.

Grin the grumpy is a bit of an act I suspect.

Sunny sounds so nice.
Mine is very laid back. Good sometimes when I need calming reassurance but bad because he verges on the lazy.
He makes jokes about everything which is lovely but not when you need a bit of support.

Now DP is a ray of sunshine, playful by nature. We have more fun together than I could ever have believed possible. Life is amazing! Both of us have down days but we lift each other up instead of dragging each other down ❤️

Awwww! Everyone needs a partner like that in their lives.

That's what I meant!! 😅

Yes, he is. He whistles and sings around the house, and nothing seems to bother him much

No. I call him Victor ( after Victor Meldrew of One Foot in the Grave )
