What cute little things do you do for your family

I know it’s a bit of a weird one and arguably he should find his own motivation but I always go to the gym so my DP can go.

I was such a little gym rat before I was a mummy bear so I am happy to be back but DP does struggle with motivation to go in the mornings and for some reason, I imagine competitiveness 😂 I know as soon as I get back from my session he’ll be ready to go and taken his pre work out. It’s so good for him and it definitely puts him in a better mood when he’s been.

Whats some cute things you do xxx

@Johnnysgirl yeah. I’ve not thought about having hot chocolate straight after school so I’m going to do it this winter as it sounds nice. I never said it was innovative. There’s some right miserable fuckers on this thread Confused

Apart from 99% of all housework, 100% running all admin for house, sorting anything to do with kids and all cooking and shopping, everyones laundry and ironing, dog walking, I do:
notes in dps packed lunch
go out of my way to buy treats I know dp and kids like, buying them with my money that I will never eat
faces on porridge
uniforms on radiator on cold mornings
run all baths
give dp head massage when he is on bath
make meals everyone else can eat everyday that I can’t
plump dps pillow every morning and again night for good measure

nev get anything in return, it is taken for granted. I am a mug!

Yes. Yes you are
😳

Christ.

I sometimes order a box of brownies for my dh to arrive on a day that he is at home and I’m not.

I leave dh notes with clues and surprise him by taking him out somewhere nice if he’s had a hard week.

When my dc go on a holiday without me or school trip I give them something to take in case they miss me, normally a small wooden heart with ‘hug’ written on!

At Christmas I buy us matching or personalised things that I think are cute! We’ve had pjs, mugs, socks etc.

I do loads of stuff like this and I do for my animals too!! It genuinely gives me joy to make them happy.

I really like the hot chocolate idea and am going to pinch it!
This is an innovative idea for you? Confused

It's a 'nice thread'? Hmm

sure if you like unbearably smug twats taking about how 'cute' the things they do for their partner are

Op if you'd started this thread to show appreciation for what someone else does for you, nauseating language aside, it would have gone down a lot better. No-one likes people who brag about how kind they are

Mumsnet at its hilarious best here!

op to answer your question, I don’t do many things that could be described as cute but every night I turn down my kids beds and arrange their favourite cuddly toy in to different sleeping positions. Like the monkey might be cuddling another monkey or have his hands behind his head relaxing. Wanky I know but my kids like it Grin

I really like the hot chocolate idea and am going to pinch it!

Does anyone remember the poster who poured shampoo into her eyes so that she would know how her baby felt if it got in his eyes?

Before we lived together whenever I left DP's house and wasn't going to be going back in the evening I would leave him a little postcard or a note. I never missed one. There were about 600 in the end.
Now we live together I still l occasionally pop one in his work bag-I actually miss writing them and he misses getting them.

@Goldbar
@OnTheRunWithMannyMontana
it started off by me doing something nice, like cooking a lovely tea I knew he would like, picking something up from the shop to make him smile. Then it just became normal.

he works longer hours than me so I did more housework, now all of the housework is my job - although he does clean up after tea.

head massages started when he had a sore neck.

I have just fallen into being a mug I suppose

Cutest thing I ever did for my little family was divorce my abusive twat of an EXh and get me and the kids out.

now I’m a single parent to two teens. I’m a mummy lion, generally roaring in their direction & sometimes a mummy wolf, ripping their limbs off when they’re still in bed at 2pm.

Calmed down and can kind of see the funny side. Maybe my post was a bit wet.

Not sure what I expected 😂😭😑 Thanks to everyone who contributed💕 xxx

Your subtle way of encouraging him to get his backside to the gym is ace, I never want to go to the gym but I'm always glad I do... I need a you.
Glad you saw the funny side, scaring the horses with such fluffy language like that!

@Workinghardeveryday yes you are definitely a mug!!

Why are you doing everything? And topping it off with head massages in the bath?? Sod that!

Report
Goldbar · 06/08/2022 09:35

@Workinghardeveryday . In your shoes, I would be drowning your DP in the bath rather than giving him head massages. Why do you do all of that? What does he do?

Buy random things like nice skin and body care for my mid 20s dd and send her a photo of them next to our cat saying that he has been shopping again. We have had many a conversation about how our cat has travelled to the shops, and carried everything home.

I do this for my DSis 😂 she lives alone with her cats and there is nobody to do those nice thoughtful things for her.

I send her little cat themed gifts or biscuits or wine through amazon and write a gift note from the cats. It's daft but it makes her smile.

I do loads of little things that they mostly don’t notice but they don’t take up a lot of my time and make me smile.
For example DS 13 likes a certain chocolate dessert that has either a pig, owl, cat or monkey on. When he was little he only liked to get the pig or cat ones so I used to go through them in the supermarket to get the “right” ones. I was at the supermarket the other day with DH and he picked up a couple for DS and I told him to put them back as they had a monkey on - he looked at me like I was nuts and said DS was 13 and wouldnt Care. When we got home DS DID notice and said he knew Dad must have got them off the shelf as “Mum knows which ones I like”
Hes 6ft and shaves often and is all grown up but his Mummy still knows which pictures he likes on his dessert pots and he still appreciates it!
If I buy or pick flowers I always take one out and put it in a little vase on DD 17 desk too

@xxcatcatcatxx I'll get OH coffee if I'm driving past his fav shop and I'm near where he is working.

Or I'll bring a lovely dessert home from a bakery that I've used my lunchtime for if they have had a particularly busy or stressful day.
