Decent Slippers
poppyzbrite4 · 14/02/2021 21:46
Anyone got some slippers they're pleased with? I'm looking for maybe something ankle length, all around the foot, not mule types. Any ideas welcome.
I'm officially middle aged, fuck.

@onewhitewhisker
I'm ooing and arring over those Giesweins! Omg. Those sheepskin ones are lovely. And the slip on ones!😍
These are amazing www.redfootshoes.com/collections/womens-sheepskin-slippers/products/ann-ladies-chocolate-sheepskin-slipper-bootie
Yes, they are super but there's only a size 3 left. Perfect otherwise.

Toms. I love mine and tweak them all year round. Super toasty in winter.
NannyGythaOgg · 15/02/2021 01:18
I've got these in my basket

I’ve just bought Celtic and co boot slippers as well. They are beautiful and keep my feet warm. True sizing and lovely choice of colours. No plastic packaging either.
NoSquirrels · 15/02/2021 02:08
Next suede slipper boots. Come in loads of honours, proper sole, look like Uggs. My house has freezing tiled floors and I wear these all the time (always WFH pre Covid). £25-30, bargain.
Nat6999 · 15/02/2021 08:37
I have the ugg slipper boot type ones, lovely & don't fall off my nerve damaged, numb feet without my knowing.
MrsPnut · 15/02/2021 08:42
I have Geissweins too and am on my third pair in 6 years. The old pairs are still in use by other members of the family as well.
poppyzbrite4 · 15/02/2021 14:55
Thanks everyone. I'm going through all these names and checking them out. I really like the fact that Gumbies are completely recycled. Love the Geissweins as well. I'm not prepared to spend nearly £100 on slippers so I think those pricier ones are out for now.
Thanks.

DH loves Glerups felt house shoes. I may need to treat myself to a pair too. They are quite elfin.

@dannydyerismydad
I would have thought that wanting to look like a character from LOTR was quite niche, but it looks like I've found my people. I will check those out too

poppyzbrite4 · 15/02/2021 17:51
@dannydyerismydad
Quite.

I have these cat ones. Dogs and chickens also available.
poppyzbrite4 · 15/02/2021 18:17
@BigBeachWales
They are certainly stylish!
Winterlight · 15/02/2021 18:21
I also brought some Moshulu’s following recommendations on here.
I find them lightweight, feel cheap for the price and too wide (and I have very wide feet).
I’m actually quite suspicious of the reviews on their website which are almost all 5* gushing with praise.
I’m going back to Sorel next time. So much better.
DinosApple · 15/02/2021 18:21
I have the Celtic ones, three years in they're still looking good (I have washed them!) and very warm.
One year I asked DH for them for Christmas, I was about 35 .
poppyzbrite4 · 15/02/2021 21:36
Don't pelt me with rotting fruit but I bought some Seasalt Quiet Room Slipper Socks. They don't look very substantial but I thought I'd get those for the time being and then look into getting some of the more substantial ones mentioned here. I particularly like the look of the WILDPOLDSRIED by Geisswein but they are sold out everywhere in my size.
Thanks all. It's been an experience.

I am giggling at the fact I have came onto s thread because I need slipper advice... I must also be middle aged (and have fell downstairs at least 29 times this year with stupid mule type ones!)
I bought DH Uggs and the first pair lasted about 3/4 years and were super snug and warm so if they do ones that stay on your feet I’m now off to look ....

I was worried about the mule types for that reason as well. I made sure I checked the soles of all the slippers to see if they are smooth, as I'll fall down the bloody stairs in them. I'm sounding positively frail now!

Uggs do have slipper boots and ones that go all the way around as well. I was fascinated with some neon pink, fluffy Ugg sandal slippers, mesmerised in fact. It's quite the rabbit hole.

I have the Birkenstock Zermatt Wool Clog.
They are just like a pair of Birkenstock sandals only have a wooly top. They are warm and feel cosy to me. I got them in the same size as the sandals.
I got them because I had been going without and was getting pain in my feet after standing to cook etc. for long periods.
They were expensive, and I had to pay taxes and duty to get them in Canada from the US, but I am happy with them. They are supportive and come in the narrow width.
My feet are much happier. They are well made and should last a long time.
The sole is firm and dense but not hard. It doesn't make noise when I walk (we are in a condo so people below).
cerealgamechanger · 15/02/2021 22:36
I have muhabbis and was pissed off when I got them as a present from the husband and not anything more glamorous but I swear, they're the best things ever for my previously perma-frozen toes! I usually fall asleep in them!
