I cannot find an acceptable toothbrush holder for four people

That’s it. I need a toothbrush holder for four people that does not let the brushes bump together. That’s all.

All manual toothbrushes like proper old school.

Is this an impossible ask?

Thank you all for Some excellent ideas.

I am trying a simple stand one for now but will try those ceramic holders next I think.... lots of ideas and I am very grateful!

I think there was a mythbusters programme about poo particles on toothbrushes. They taped used toothbrushes all over the bathroom and the rest of the house and left for a week then tested for contamination. It was found to be untrue as the contamination levels were near enough the same all over the house.

I was about to say close the toilet lid! Yes you might have no bits of poo on your toothbrush but you'll still have it everywhere else EnvyGrin

P.s I really need to change my username Hmm

@AKissAndASmile

Yuck, you're not meant to keep toothbrushes out on display in bathrooms.. .have you not seen those documentaries where a flushed toilet expels droplets of faeces?

Surely closing the lid before you flush makes more sense than keeping the toothbrushes somewhere else? That's what we do anyway.

These are brilliant...no scuzzy water issues

I too have the Joseph Joseph one, also purchased cheap in Home Sense. I even cleaned it this week (it was fairly manky). I do recommend it though and it is really easy to clean.

@mogtheexcellent

have you tried kitchen cutlery/ washing up utensils holders? we have a dunelm mills one.

alternatively joseph joseph has this toothbrush holder

We have the Joseph Joseph one that mogtheexcellent linked here. It’s great, got it cheap in home sense too so that made it even better.

Oh and for the squeamish the middle bit comes out and we just stick it all in the dishwasher.

We have this, it's great as it fits 4 electric toothbrushes

I think electric work massively better but I’m sure OP can choose her own toothbrush. Stick a magnet on the end of the handle and a metal strip on the wall? Or drill a hole in the handle and use a key ring to hang them from a nail?

Yes, they work just fine. Ask any dentist who isn't getting a backhander.

Is there a reason you all still use manual toothbrushes?

I have the Jospeh Jospehy one in blue instead of grey
It's a bastard for collecting dirty water and needs washing out daily. It has a slit that's supposed to help I assume? Don't. .

@EssentiallyDelightedid seen that one but worried it might come off the wall easily?

Sucker toothbrushes are an excellent idea!

We use children’s toothbrushes that have a sucker on the bottom so they can stand independently. You are supposed to use soft bristle toothbrushes anyway as they are less damaging to your gums.
They feel so much more hygienic!

I like the wall mounted one. Op, it's on amazon.com?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 and it's much cheaper in dollars!

@TwigTheWonderKid I like the wall mounted one although god only knows how I’d work out the tax from the US... but it’s got potential
