Hoping Mumsnet can help with family friendly fun hotels in the Lakes. We’ve loved staying in the Swan at Newby Bridge but the service seems to be decreasing while opposite is true of the prices and would love to know if there’s anywhere else with a similar vibe anyone could recommend? Thanks!

The Inn on the Lake in Glenridding on Ullswater

The Castle Inn has an indoor pool and a games room with Wii. There’s lots to do nearby at this relaxed hotel - excellent wild animal park, fishing, Ospreys and Keswick just down the road. A children’s menu is available in the restaurant.
The Lakeside Hotel is on the quieter side of Lake Windermere, and is next door to the Lakes Aquarium and Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. There are also more than 10 boat cruises from the lake so you can explore other resorts on the Lake such as Bowness and Ambleside. It has large family rooms which can accommodate up to 3 children, and some of them have a second internal bedroom with bunk beds. Families are catered for in the restaurants and there is a special under 14’s menu. Also has an indoor pool.

I've stayed a couple of times at the s
Salutation in Ambleside, lovely rooms and a pool and spa downstairs.

The Grange in Keswick is wonderful, very upmarket guest house, rooms and food are lovely. Also stayed in a great place between Windermere and Bowness called Rum Doodle where each room has a different theme. The Daffodil in Grasmere is also nice, more of a large scale luxury place, in a great location. There is a Laura Ashley hotel in Bowness too which is fabulous but make sure you upgrade to a half decent room or your view may be a brick wall!

The Daffodil on the edge of Grasmere. Handy for Ambleside,Windermere, and Keswick. The spa is nice ( and so is afternoon tea !)

Love the Lodore Falls, just outside Keswick, our favourite after the Swan at Newby Bridge

I know someone who spent their honeymoon at the Sharrow Bay hotel and said it was amazing.

Burn How Hotel at Bowness-On-Windermere. Has apartment/chalet type rooms for families & a separate building with double & single rooms in. Very nice food, great service. 5 minutes walk to the lake, if that.

Cragwood, Low Wood Bay or Langdale Chase. All gorgeous, the Cragwood is my favourite though!
