My feet are cold. Can you recommend some hot water bottles?

I'm finally going to take the plunge into hot water bottles. Can you recommend a few on Amazon UK? It's a huge abyss and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd probably be using the bottle for:

foot warming
period/cramp relief
shoulder pain or neck relief
general cuddles

What am supposed to be looking for here in terms of leak proof, size, etc?? And apparently there are some cool looking covers too. Show me your covers! Please and thank you.

I looooooooove my hot water bottle far too much. It’s just an ordinary one from Boots but it has a lovely furry cover. I’d rescue it in a fire before DH, I reckon.

Stuff hot water bottles. Get a hotties gel pack from Amazon.

2 mins in the microwave. No hot water.. stays hotter for longer too.

@DrMadelineMaxwell we don't have a microwave though. I'm also getting cherry pit pillows for my shoulder pain and deliberately looked for ones that could withstand a regular oven and not just microwaves.

I would go for a hot water bottle that is ribbed on one side a nd smooth on the other side. The ribbed side is cooler so handy ( footy ? ) if the water you put in is a bit to hot.

Haha, I came on to say what itsboiledeggsagain has said. It's a hot water bottle. Just buy one from the nearest chemist. If too hot wrap a towel or scarf around it until it cools a bit.

Any old hot water bottle will do. I have a few. The nicest lookingbone has a so I cable knit cover bit it doesn't cone off, which us annoying, and is a bit too thick so doesn't emit as much heat as my fleece covered one.

I bought my kids hotwater bottles from primark last year at xmas £6 one has an owl cover the other a cat unicorn thing, they are the softest cuddliest things ever. Great quality for £6.

I’ve found it worth spending money on a good one. I’ve had cheap ones in the past but the covers have stretched really quickly and made it unsafe.

I was about to say what itsboiledeggsagain did, but then remembered my most recent bottle (replacing 10 yr old perished one) does actually have a design flaw: it had no hole in the top to tie the stopper to, and no hole in the bottom blank to tie a piece of string to dangle the empty bottle from.

So there you go, OP. You're looking for one with holes in the flanges for bits of string.

Just get the bog standard one from Asda or other supermarket. Alternatively, get mefanamic acid for period pain, it’s amazing! Prescription on.y.

For general warmth, an electric blanket is far superior to a hot water bottle.

Agree any old water bottle. Covers are important, the cuddly lovely kind just feel a bit nicer. Don't understand the need for string though...

I also agree, electric blankets have their place within the whole 'get warm, stay warm' plan. I use heat to ease pain, a bottle water bottle is absolutely the best for period pain and back pain. Shoulders are not so easy as you would have to lie on it in a weird way to get the bottle to stay on your shoulder. Use a wheatie for this, but they need to be warmed in a microwave.

Deep heat spray or gel works well for shoulders.

I have a long one and it’s amazing. Wrap it round my back and it keeps me toasty. I also use it for my feet and it’s great - can have both feet under it without having it fall about the place.

We have a selection of hotties. In order of increasing love:

Hot water bottles - any will do, as long as it has some way of attaching the stopper when you're not using it. Do not store it stoppered. Always use it wrapped in something: a soft towel or a sweatshirt are good. You can buy all sorts of cuddly covers. Don't waste money on a small hotwater bottle - they cool too quickly.

Microwave wheat bags - there's a make called Hottie (Hootie?) that do lovely cuddly animals with removable wheat-and-lavender bags. You put the whole thing in the microwave for 90s. Verrrrry nice. You can take the wheat bag out to wash the teddy. Other makes are of course available.

Electric wraps - I've got a couple of Silvercrest electric hotties from Lidl. One is a rectangle a bit larger than A3, the other is waist-wrap. Both incredibly soft and comfortably squishy. They plug in on a long cord, and have thermostat controls The rectangle lives flat at the foot of my bed, and switches itself off after 2h. The wrap lives on the sofa, because everyone loves using it. It switches of automatically after 45min. Absolutely love my hot wraps.

I bought our first electric blanket last year. Impulse buy, under £20 from Aldi. Heaven! I love a hot water bottle but if you can stretch to an electric blanket you won’t regret it.

In the meantime, any supermarket hot water bottles will do. Put one at the small of your back for maximum benefit, and another by your feet. Agree don’t get the tiny ones, they go cold too quickly.

Also, thermal socks. Can’t get sleep with cold feet!

Not a hot water bottle but I always have ice cold feet in bed
I got these and had to take them off as my feet were too hot which is unheard of!

Thanks for all the helpful responses everyone! I really never have bought a water bottle before so that's why I asked. I passed out last night from cold before all you showed up so I'll try answer your questions as best I can.

Overall, I'm not in the UK, so I can't just walk in Tesco or Asda, etc. Where I live doesn't exactly sell them in all the corner stores either. I've been looking for one for a while and finally just decided to add one to my Amazon UK order. (This country doesn't have a local Amazon!)

@Freyanna thanks for the Fashy link. Those kept coming up in my searches but again I wasn't sure.

@Oldpossumsbook ooooh that long cream one from Dunelm may be perfect for my shoulders!

@RussellTheRaven I sporadically use Tiger Balm on my shoulders for the pain and need to start being more regular about this. Combined with the deep heat from a cherry stone pillow or the long Dunelm bottle, I think it would improve dramatically. (Along with doing my physio exercises .)

@Myimaginarycathasfleas what exactly is a "tiny" water bottle? Some of the product pages don't say how many liters are contained.

I do have a fluffy cover on my bottle which is much cosier, you can order the bottle and a cover separately.
