Do you wrap presents now and put them under the tree or wait until Christmas eve?

I have always wanted to have a Christmas Tree surrounded by Christmas presents but at my parents house we never brought them out until Christmas morning and then it was all over so quickly. This will be the first Christmas as a parent so I figure that after this year (he'll be just under 4 months old) I won't be able to do it for many years as kids can be sneaky and he'd probably find a way into opening them all before Christmas once he's mobile. Would it be weird to just do it for one year? 🤣🤣

My family are also Scottish, always the sofa for presents from Santa! Presents in a pillow slip when I was young - we all had a different pile. Loved it but have Santa sacks for my kids. Only family presents under the tree.

Under the tree apart from Santa's presents which he brings on Christmas eve.

Christmas Eve unless the gift was from a friend of child. Santa delivers presents on Christmas Eve so how can you explain if they are put out earlier? Also helps protect against thieving gits who prey on households with kids.

When we were younger, my parents put the presents round the tree Christmas eve but I think thats because my dm would still be wrapping them up till then, bless her. Also I'm sure a few of us would be peeking at them!

Dh and I have been putting the presents round our tree as we've gone along. The tree looks lovely and our 2 year dc hasn't tried to open any yet! She's more interested in the tree decorations!

Thinking about Christmas a memory popped into my head.
I was the youngest of 6 and I remember the year I got a bike (my mum paid it up over a year from kays catalogue).
A neighbour was keeping it and she sent my dad for it on Christmas eve. He stayed for hours and got pished. We were woken with my mum shouting and a lot of banging my dad was trying to stand up straight holding onto a bike.
He put it up on the couch 😂😂😂. In the morning my mum went metal because the couch was filthy from the wheels. Best of all it had 2 cans of tenants lager in the basket 🙈🙈

We store our presents for other people under the tree. Looks nice and doesn’t give the game away

We usually put presents from other family and friends under the tree as we get them but most don’t go under until Christmas Eve, mainly because I have a dc that would not be able to control herself (she has Autism), I would love to have them under there earlier.

We put any presents given by friends or family under the tree as and when we get them but ones from us to our (now adult) kids go under the Christmas Eve just before we go to bed. They still love coming down and seeing them all under there.

Santa only brings stockings. Everything else under the tree whenever it's ready. Tree went up today but we haven't bought any presents yet. They will go under whenever each is brought and wrapped.

Christmas presents already under the tree. It's finishes the tree off, IMO.

Another Scot who piles the sofa with "Santa" pressies and stockings, whilst those we are giving or have already received are under tree. It's what my parents always did. Kids are teens so too old to believe in Santa but the tradition persists alongside putting out a plate of snacks and a drink for Santa (which I'll scoff) and a carrot for Rudolf (which I'll take a huge bite out of).

I wrap in advance (have spent most of today doing so as kids with their Dad this weekend for last time this year 🙀) so tree has a few things under it now...the cats like to sleep amongst them but aren't destructive... kids stuff wrapped, boxed and stashed away for late night stocking stiffing and sofa arranging on Christmas Eve.

I've always been concerned about being burgled if I put them out early so ours go under the tree on Christmas Eve afternoon. Plus we have 2 dogs so anything with food/chocolate would be sniffed constantly!

As soon as they’re wrapped. I don’t have space to keep them elsewhere…

We put presents from family under our tree and presents to family under the tree. Also presents for me and dh go under. We see family on Christmas day so we have presents under the tree until then. My parents artificial tree is very big, the branches hang low, our has almost a foot of the metal stand showing before the branches start so it is more obvious the tree is empty of presents on our tree than theirs.

Burglars robbing your presents?! thats awful!
I think it'd be quite funny of they did that to us, everything this year was second hand 🤣🤣 Just imagine those poor burglars faces on Christmas morning opening up a beat up old dolls house and mismatched dinosaurs... thankfully my children are less fussy than my local burglars

Just empty boxes in different shapes and sizes wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper.

@OnTheBenchOfDoom Hand up, guilty as charged in this house also.

I love beautifully wrapped presents. Each year I salvage any that are particularly lovely and in line with my gold, white and green colour scheme. I wrap them up again as if still full.

We don't put the tree up til Christmas Eve, then I take a photo of my lovely tree with beautifully wrapped presents. Then, over Christmas we meet up with friends and family, I give away my lovely, lovely parcels snd receive in return a motley assortment.

These are hidden round the back of the tree while my 'fake' parcels from previous years get pride of place at the front.

We do a bit of both
Our gifts for other people go under the tree until we gift them and any gifts we get from other people who don't live in our house also go under the tree.

Our gifts for each other go under on Christmas eve.

Presents from others go under the tree normally but this year they won't be Ds has already took all the baubles off the tree twice since yesterday so there is no chance presents will survive under there.
Once kids are old enough not to touch the tree presents will start being put under it again.

We do wrap them early but they always go under the tree on Christmas Eve, even though the children are older now.

Well, no not me. We don't have a tree up yet (will happen on 18th Dec) and I've only bought one Christmas present. I realise I'm not the sort of person you're asking Xmas Grin.

While it may look lovely having Christmas presents under the tree for days or weeks, it's also the way to get them stolen.. I've known several people that has happened to. Not what you want in the run up to Christmas.

I would but with a 2yo toddling around I don't think the presents would be worth having by Christmas Day! He's obsessed with boxes and stacking things 😂
