Gifts for people you hate

I have to buy a gift for my odious mother. For many complex reasons I can’t not but I want to put as little thought and effort in as possible.
What have you bought for people you hate? I need ideas!
Justilou1 · 06/12/2021 03:39
*Posted too soon… these send a clear message that you are really not in a hurry to step in and get involved. Also, “You’re getting old, Odious Mum.”

Tools to help people as they age like jar openers, sock puller-uppers, etc.

@CrimbleCrumble1
And those companies rely on people not taking them up before they expire, pure profit.
Iputthetrampintrampoline · 05/12/2021 18:01
A star named after them or a lord .ladyship title...total tat and no use to anyone!
Blackmagicqueen · 05/12/2021 17:31

But something from the Christmas gift (new) section from the Oxfam shop.
At least you've helped the charity out.
I've had a few of the shit presents on here from my exh family we did all hate each other, another lovely reminder of the positives of my divorce!
salcombebabe · 04/12/2021 13:32
You need to be careful she doesn’t recycle your gift back to you next Christmas 🤣🤣
CrimbleCrumble1 · 04/12/2021 13:12
Ihopeyourcakeisshit I do agree with your family member (without the swearing).
Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/12/2021 10:44
We did a charity gift for a member of the family some years ago.
The recipient was not best pleased and said "If you want to give to charity fine, but don't do it with my f***g present!"
We no longer exchange gifts
pinkksugarmouse · 04/12/2021 01:45
If she so badly screwed up your life how about a donation to an appropriate children’s charity. NSPCC maybe?
You’d be making a point and using the money for some good not throwing it away on granny knickers, torn books or incomplete jigsaws.

@SquarePeggyLeggy
It’s win-win. I’ve done my polite duty, it goes to a charity, and nobody can be mad about that.
I think this would be the best.
Justilou1 · 03/12/2021 11:03
2kgs of sugar-free gummy bears. (Read the review/ on Amazon. Absolutely worth the laugh.)
Mother87 · 03/12/2021 07:16
Ex-DH once bought me a Dove gift set
Cornishclio · 03/12/2021 07:11
Buying her tat or stuff you know she will hate is just adding to landfill so why do it. Speak to her and say you aren't doing presents this year so she doesn't have to buy for you either. Reciprocal present giving is just a waste of time and money unless you are putting some thought into it.
Dontjudgeme101 · 03/12/2021 05:10
@TheCreamCaker
Thank you voice of reason! Same
Justilou1 · 03/12/2021 01:57
Is she religious?

Justilou1 · 03/12/2021 01:43
@sqirrelfriends - I hope you handed the broom back and told her to ride it home.
Idontbloodyknow · 03/12/2021 01:38
Oh fgs why bother I would love any and all of these gifts especially charity gifts so your bitchy pettiness would not even register what is the point of wasting your time thinkibout it mo. re thought going
Justilou1 · 03/12/2021 01:36
Does she like to garden? You could get a truckload of fertilizer delivered. If she has a taste for the exotic, here in Australia you can order Zoo Poo. Specific animal poo straight from the zoo. (Sea Lion turds are especially fragrant thanks to their diet of fish. Just saying.) Lion & other big cat wee is supposed to help deter dogs and cats from coming into your garden. (Probably stinks as much or more, if you ask me…)

SIL bought DH a 'Top Gun' DVD 2 yrs ago for Christmas. It had a £1 reduced sticker on the back!
We don't have a DVD player either!
Timeisavirtue · 03/12/2021 00:28
Well generally don’t buy for people I don’t like, however it’s usually chocolates or candles, simple and cheap if of course I’m put in a position where I have to buy for someone I don’t like.
