Does anyone still do Janet and Roy?

We did one once to friends who were getting married they were really very stressed about who these people were who would be attending their wedding with their small children.

Are they still going? I'd do one for someone.

I would just like to add that when my writer sent a letter to my brother and his wife, she added photos of bits of carpet asking which one they preferred ! And continued the story of a relative who was in prison ! I have kept this secret for 7 yrs, and I don't intend to tell them anytime soon. They were so puzzled 😂😂

I'd love for my cousin to receive one.
She's obsessed with researching our family tree and is convinced we are descended from royalty (we aren't) and that we have a missing aunt (we don't)
I've been studying the family tree longer than she has, I actually used to work for a national records office, but she's totally winding me up with her obsession with the likes of long lost family..
She's convinced there must be interesting things in our (boring) family and she's doing the whole "I'm older so I'm right" thing.
Anyway if someone can do a Janet and Roy from a 'missing aunt' that references the royal she thinks we're descended from, and a few bits of info that make it sound genuine, that would be fab

Do you understand what kind of data the DPA 2018 applies to? (Info “collected” for your own personal, family or household purposes is exempt - otherwise we would have stringent rules for our own address books!)

And that it applies to businesses and organisations, not private individuals?

Don’t be worrying about GDPR ….

Agree, but I like the idea of Janet and Roy worrying about GDPR and including that Roy ‘had a time of it’ with trying to get an appointment at the ‘CAB’ as didn’t want any of their Round Robin recipients to be disappointed. He’s made a helpful guide for anyone interested now though.
Love it!! I think Roy would be big into regulatory changes and compliance …

If anyone can send one from Buckinghamshire/Berkshire I can do one from Northern Ireland. My in laws would be great candidates and definitely find it funny when I eventually fess up.

Dear So & So,

Well, it's been quite the year hasn't it! Who would have thought we'd be writing again during a pandemic, it's as though we've traveled back in time to the Spanish Flu. A few other things have gone back in time this year too - like Roy's dress sense! He's bought himself a velvet blazer - like the one he had when we were all at University, only this time it's not orange! I'll be sure to encourage him to wear it when we pop down to see you in the New Year and we can all reminisce about the good old days (I can't believe we're that old either!!).

We're all set for our tour, and very much looking forward to checking out some of our old haunts. Is the pub on the corner of the High Street still as raucous as it always was!? It's a shame Mark won't be able to join us this time - I'm sure you'll remember the night I'm referring to. The one with the sheep!

Speaking of people who are no longer with us, it's only right that we acknowledge Henry's passing when we get together. Roy and I were thinking that karaoke would be a fitting tribute. What do you think? I know he was pretty tone-deaf himself, but we've been practicing a duet of Ebony and Ivory, which always reminds us of him.

We hope everyone else has their accommodation sorted for the big weekend, but as we were a little late to the party we haven't been able to find a B&B so we'll bring the camper instead. This one will fit on your driveway, so we won't inconvenience anyone! We're still none the wiser about how last year's round-robin with all the organisational details didn't make it to our new address. We suspect you might have addressed it to Orchard Road, but we're Orchard AVENUE (it's because we're the road with the trees - that's an easy way for you to remember it). I can't imagine the couple at Orchard Road would have thought to re-deliver it to us. He's been "away". She says he's in the army, but Roy and I suspect it's the "other" kind of away!

Marcy and Owen have kept in regular touch, though the pandemic has stopped them from visiting. They're being very thoughtful, in light of Roy's condition, and have allowed us to sheild. We told them that the doctor said it wasn't really necessary, but they said they didn't want to be responsible for either of us getting sick again. I've phoned every Saturday morning to check on how they're doing. Marcy usually answers. She says Owen is often busy in the garden. He seems to have developed a real passion for it since they've both been working from home. Anyway, the big news is that she's pregnant - so we're going to be grandparents! I can't believe we're really old enough, though I know your grandchildren must be almost teenagers now!

Well that's all our news. Looking forward to the 8th/9th!

Tootles!
Janet & Roy

fake round robins

Known as boasts-by-post chez nous. They can be much more entertaining than most books I receive. Do people not realise that sometimes their 'news' also comes from other friends who put a totally different spin on events.

Umm - GDPR?!!

Janet & Roy are a fictional couple who are utter twats.

Their twattery is only limited by the writers of the fake round robins and their imaginations.

Yes pls! Do I have to do a reciprocal one?
Dear So and So,

What a wonderful year it's been! Roy finally took the plunge and joined the local am-dram society and was cast as Widow Twanky in the village show! He's been gathering all his props most of the year, and now boasts an impressive collection of stockings, heels, dresses and wigs. He likes to practise his act each weekend, and has found alike minded bunch of chaps to help him along with it all. I am excited to see the show - II took the liberty and booked four 4 tickets for the Saturday Matinee. We should go for a meal beforehand perhaps? The Waggoners in the next village does a lovely supper on a Saturday. Please let me know if you want dessert, and 'll book the trolley.

Myself, I've taken up salsa dancing! I did put my back out on week 3, so haven't actually been since February, but it's a wonderful hobby and such good fun. Keeps me fit and gets me out of the house. I had hoped to take an exam, but the leader says I'm not ready yet. It's such a shame because I did start in January, so it has been almost a year of being a salsa dancer (in spirit, if not in body!).

In other news the neighbours hedge trimming issues have been resolved. No longer will their stragglers be encroaching on our drive way! Hooray. And it was all done quite amicably really. Roy went over to see John on the other side, who told him how to word the matter correctly. I had advised we continue give pointed stares every time, but I do admit that hadn't been working. Roy and John popped over to see Terry an they all had a wonderful evening of Brandy drinking, and the bush is lovely to behold now.

Do you remember Sandra? The lady who lives down Dogger's Lane? In the cottage, with her cats. Well it turns out that her niece, Olivia, is a lesbian! Yes, a lesbian! Well, I've never met one before, and she just happened to pop by as I was visiting with a cheery cake I'd made. She'd brought her "girlfriend" with her. I was all a fluster. Do lesbians eat cherry cake? I was worried, and didn't know where to look, or if I should offer. Luckily Sandra went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea, so I asked her discretely there. What a relief, it turns out it was fine, as apparently being a lesbian doesn't impact on your diet - this modern world we live in, full of social unknowns.

Unfortunately we didn't get to go to Hastings this year, as that was the weekend of petrol shortages- also I hadn't managed to get Roy to the barbers that month - so it's probably just as well.

Rogers says hello by the way and asks if he can pop in on Boxing Day. Please do ring him, his number hasn't changed.

I look forward to seeing you again in the New Year for our annual gathering of us "Old Drangles" - I'm bringing a trifle!!

Best Wishes
Janet and Roy

Dear

Well, another year is coming to an end and what a year it has been!

In January, after such high hopes for our annual Mediterranean cruise, it was unfortunately postponed again and we decided to cancel. You can't be too careful with all these different strains of coronavirus in Europe so we have booked an alternative break in Northampton for next year. Janet is very much looking forward to visiting the famous architecture!

Lock down was of course hard on us all, especially David as he wasn't able to come for his Sunday dinners. He said he had lots of lovely takeaways with his new friend Graham, but I'm sure he missed his weekly visits and catching up on the neighbourhood news. Janet spent her time perfecting her wonderful soprano and Roy has started to learn the trombone to accompany her. We will be sure to give a concert at our next get together!

After Roy had done some thorough research we decided that we should have our Covid jabs in May. It was very stressful, especially because Janet felt out of sorts for a few days afterwards. Roy was very diligent and called the Doctor everyday until she felt better. What an excellent nurse he is!

In July we received the upsetting news that Pat had died. She will be sadly missed by everyone at the Scottish Dancing club.

In September Roy's stamp collecting club started meeting again and he is very keen to attend the convention in Wrexham, covid allowing of course.

Janet still enjoys life, despite her "women's problems". A hysterectomy has been suggested by Roy but, as we know, the NHS isn't what it was under Maggie!

We must get together next year, it's been far too long.

With love, Janet and Roy
