In 2019. Obviously not millions but it was still life changing!

Gosh that's an amazing amount of money! You've been very restrained! I always think I'd but a beautiful and bigger home if I won a few hundred k, have you not been tempted?
Do you have any long term plans?
I wouldn't tell anyone either - I like to think anyway!

Wow! And I'm sat here wondering if I can afford 4 pints of milk tomorrow or just 2, Crikey.
Then again, I don't play the Lottery! You have to be in it to win it I guess!

Belated congrats OP! How long did you have to wait for it to come through?

Did your bank start contacting you and inviting you in for meetings etc?!

I'm interested in knowing why you haven't paid off your mortgage? The amount you have won isn't enough to be overly flashy or share around but surely you should be debt free.

Do you still play the lottery?

Did Camelot offer any advice about how to manage winning that much money?

Will you play off your mortgage or buy a second home?

Report
LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2020 00:51

I don't understand at all why you haven't paid off your mortgage Confused

Report
LoafingLiz · 27/07/2020 00:37

Are you scared to spend it?

By now I'd have paid my mortgage or moved house.
I'd have certainly given some to family.

It is an unusual thing not to pay your mortgage off if you have won that amount of money. Unless your mortgage is more than 500k (getting more and more common these days, I've found) and you want to have some cash left?

Why haven't you paid off your mortgage yet? That is the first thing I would do!

MawnyStannit · 26/07/2020 16:42

Yes, if paying off your mortgage would give you peace, why haven’t you?

Tappering · 26/07/2020 16:39

I think I'd have been super-paranoid about losing the ticket!

Congratulations; I hope you come up with some lovely plans for the money.

Can I ask why you haven’t paid your mortgage? I think that would be the first the thing I do!

Was it a lucky dip or numbers you chose yourself?

Report
Quackersandcheese3 · 26/07/2020 16:23

Congratulations, that must have been an amazing moment for you.

Can you give me some? GrinGrin

Congrats though. I bet it was an unreal feeling

Did you have any savings before?

Report
rexanonymous · 26/07/2020 16:11

@Greenbks 500 grand. I've always been ok but I have been a temporary/agency workers for the past few years. I have had periods of unemployment but luckily I have professional qualifications, so I always do have work available. I bought a lucky dip and I bought it from my local shop.

@NiceTwin It's not changed my life in any since I've not really spent it. I would like to sell my current home or fully pay off the mortgage, I would feel at peace if I was mortgage free.

@BumblePan yes, but I wish I was more adventurous. Lots of lottery players pan out exactly what they plan on doing with their money and I never have. And 500k is an amazing amount but once you start to spend it can go really quickly

@FusionChefGeoff @MummyInTheNecropolis
£500,000 which is the max jackpot amount.

@BettaSplenden no, I chose to stay anonymous but told my sisters who have been very supportive

The most expensive thing I've bought so far is a car (it wasn't that expensive) and we went on a lovely family holiday to the US just before xmas, that was quite expensive.

I still work at my normal job but I'm a temp worker anyway. I'll consider whether I want to continue doing this once my contract ends.

@GingerAndTheBiscuits only my sisters know and I haven't given any away, just spent a few grand

@MoreCookiesPlease I scanned my ticket on the app and it showed £500,000 but I thought it was £500 and got so excited since the most I won before was £30. The I rechecked and nearly fainted. I went on my laptop and kept checking the numbers, I was just in disbelief. I contacted Camelot the next day and they were really great, they discussed the whole authenticating process with me. I think I got the money in my account after two weeks

How much did you win?
What was your life like before- how much were you earning/ did you struggle etc?
How has it changed your life (if at all)?
Did you buy the ticket online?
Did you play with your own numbers or a lucky dip?

MoreCookiesPlease · 26/07/2020 15:43

Wow!!! Congratulations! How much was it and how did you find out and what happened and how did you receive the money?!

How much did you win? Did you quit or change your job as a result?

Report

I'll start with the obvious one - how much and what was the first thing you spent it on and the most expensive thing?
