Dune Palton Boots, £58 (were £99)
These sturdy suede boots are incredibly versatile: they look fab with jeans in cold weather, but are also great for adding an edge to a dress or skirt when the weather is a little warmer. We love the buckle detail and the comfortable block heel which is just the right leg-lengthening height – snap them up while they're in the sale.
“They're so comfy and they make me feel lovely when I walk.”Buy them now from Dune
Clarks Orinoco Spice Lace-up Boots, £69
Clarks Orinoco range is a real favourite among Mumsnetters because they're durable, comfortable and infinitely wearable. The Orinoco Spice style is a particularly great option if you have narrow feet as the laces allow you to adjust the fit. Available in four colours and both leather and nubuck finishes, this may be the start of a collection…
“I love Clarks Orinoco Spice boots. I have them in tan but am planning on getting them in black and grey because I love them so much.”Buy them now from Clarks
Best knee-high boots
Clarks Caddy Belle Boots, £155
A wear-with-everything take on the classic riding boot: the Clarks Caddy Belle features an elasticated panel that hugs the back of the calf and ensures the boots are easy to slip on and off. They're available in a range of three colours and, if you're not a fan of suede, the black version comes in leather, too.
“Really great boots for being both flattering and comfortable.”Buy now from Clarks
Best Chelsea boots
Clarks Orinoco Club boots, £69
The Chelsea boot offering from Clarks' popular Orinoco range, these boots have some very dedicated Mumsnet fans – in fact, we're pretty sure some MNers put them on in October and don't take them off until April. The slightly longer length of the Orinoco Clubs means they look great with jeans and trousers tucked into them, and you can wear them with thick woolly socks in especially chilly weather. Available in five shades, including this rather fetching navy nubuck finish.
“I like Clarks Orinoco Club. They are just right and so comfortable. I have the black and brown. Bought a few years ago but will probably repurchase another black pair this winter as I've worn mine so much!”Buy them now from Clarks
Clarks Taylor Shine Ankle Boots, £65
These Clarks Chelsea boots prove that you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort: the slight heel and Cushion Soft foam layers in the sole mean these boots are made for walking. They're available in tan leather and taupe suede – either colour is ideal for autumnal dressing.
“Clarks do some fantastic cushioned boots called Taylor Shine.”
“I’ve got the Clark’s ones too. They’re on their second year and I can wear them for hours. So comfy.”Buy now from Clarks
Best sheepskin boots
Aqualamb Boots Calf, £165
If you're looking for something a little more heavy-duty, these are the boots for you. Like Uggs, but waterproof: Aqualamb boots are handmade in Cornwall from specially treated sheepskin and feature a rugged rubber sole.
“I actually love Celtic & Co. I have the Aqualamb ones, which are waterproof. I've literally never worn anything as warm and cosy. I'm a convert.”
“I genuinely let out a little sigh of pleasure when I put my Celtics on. They are the warmest and softest boots. I love them.”Buy now from Celtic & Co
Dr Martens Rosa Boots, £105
These beauties combine classic Dr Martens durability with a cosy faux-shearling lining in order to keep your toes warm winter after winter. The nigh-on indestructible Doc Martens sole means you can wear them in any weather and the teak-coloured leather exterior simply improves with age, deepening to a richer colour as you
put them through the wringer wear them. They've even got steel-capped toes if you're particularly accident prone.
“I've just got a pair of Dr Martens Rosa boots…..they are incredibly warm and comfy, and I wear them everyday walking the dog, run them under the hose and then pop them on for going out with skinny jeans. Amazing soles and grip too. I've not had any issues breaking these in, they're fur lined so very soft. And very easy to get on and off as they've got loops on. I've not noticed any weight from the steel toes. They truly are invincible and are totally waterproof. Best pair of boots I've ever had.”
“Fleece lined DMs. Yesterday I stuck some crampons on the bottom of them and walked with DS through a tunnel made of ice. They are all-terrain mum boots and cannot be faulted.”Buy them now from Amazon
UGG Abree Boots
Smaller and neater than the classic UGG boot – but just as cosy – the UGG Abrees strike the perfect balance between style and comfort. Though we wouldn't advise wearing them in a torrential downpour, they're pretty practical as the suede outer is treated to repel water and stains. Plus, they're about as close as you can get to wearing your slippers out and about.
“I recommend Ugg Abree boots. They have a side zip, so are more fitted than other styles and my feet are so cosy. They're also water-resistant. I almost feel guilty wearing them – how can an outdoor shoe feel so indoor?”Buy them now from UGG
