This spa describes itself as having "a friendly, informal, 'home from home' atmosphere. This will allow you the time and space to focus on yourself, giving you the opportunity to regain a renewed and positive perspective on life." It couldn't have been more accurate.
The owner of Middle Piccadilly made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, showing us to our room and organising the perfect combination of treatments for full relaxation and restoration.
Our room wasn't overly grand, but it had everything we could need including a wonderfully comfortable bed and an ensuite. It is the only room in the retreat to have an ensuite, and I'd highly recommend it.
The food was perfectly matched to the place’s ethos. It was a vegetarian menu, which comprised of delicious light soups for lunch and more substantial creations for dinner. All meals are eaten with the other guests in the homely kitchen of the retreat. It might not suit people looking for an intimate getaway, but my boyfriend and I felt that getting to know the other people only added to our enjoyment of the stay.
The treatments Dominic arranged for me were the definite highlight of my trip. The full body therapeutic massage was the perfect antidote to a hectic London lifestyle. I felt more relaxed than I had in ages and it was a wonderfully indulgent treat.
The Shamanic healing session was slightly more out-of-the-ordinary. I was initially sceptical, but it was actually a really interesting and quite beneficial process once I allowed myself to go along with it. It's a great experience for anyone to have, and if you're hoping to get rid of some anxiety and stress it should definitely be high up on your treatment list.
My boyfriend and I were also able to enjoy the ‘spa’ aspect of the retreat with a mud bath and sauna. We had the use of the spa room one evening and it was a wonderful way to relax and reconnect without any disturbances.
If you’re looking for five-star opulence this probably isn’t the place for you, but if you and your partner are looking to get away from it all and reconnect with yourself and each other, you won’t find a better space to do so.
