The booking process with Affinity Villas was very simple and there pre-departure package of information was spot-on.
We were met on arrival by an agent and our transfer was seamless.
On arrival we were greeted by a comprehensive welcome hamper - top marks for that.
Our stay was generally very pleasant. We had a couple of occasions to contact their local managing agent. On both occasions we were promised a call back with an answer to a query, but on neither occasion did the call come.
The villa itself was a spacious and contemporary It was situated close to bars, restaurants and shopping. However, 12 Vale Verde has one serious drawback.
Having spent our first evening at the villa enjoying an evening meal and a few drinks outside in the seating area by the BBQ, we awoke to find that we all had scores of highly itchy insect bites on our limbs. This despite the generous application of Deet and use of the (many!) citronella candles provided.
On our second evening we paid more attention to our surroundings and noted that as soon as the sun disappeared below the horizon there were hundreds of flying insects around all of the outside lights. We took refuge inside for our evening meal and were forced to do this for the remainder of the holiday.
On the last night of our holiday there was what can only be described as a plague of flies on a biblical scale around all of the outside lights and at the kitchen door. In the morning the patio, furniture and pool were all covered in a layer of these (now dead) insects.
The villa is on the edge of a wooded area - I suspect that this may be the cause of such large gatherings of winged pests.
We have been home for 2 weeks now and the bites still itch! (Photos available on request!).
12 Vale Verde is a lovely villa, but I cannot recommend it for the reasons above and as such I would not return there.
On our return we were contacted by Affinity to tell us that they are withholding £126 of the deposit due to damage to a seat cushion and pillow in the garden area. We were aware of the damage, but as it was pre-existing we hadn't felt the need to report it. I have suggested to Affinity that a damage log/condition report would avoid this problem in future.
Overall, not a bad service, just our bad luck with the insect problem!
