Le Meridien Barcelona is a stylish hotel that sits directly next to the famous La Rambla – a busy, bustling boulevard, which cuts through the heart of the city centre. This modern hotel is a 4-minute walk from Catalunya metro station.
There is wireless Internet, a fitness centre and spa, wheelchair access and you can even take your pets with you.
The hotel is around a 45min shuttle/ taxi ride away from El Prat Airport transport to and from the hotel can be arranged with the hotel prior to your arrival. The location is brilliant for anyone wanting to explore the city and there are many sites and attractions to see for the whole family within walking distance of the Hotel. I would recommend visiting Palau Güell - a palace designed by Antoni Gaudí. The entrance cost is included within the price of your room so you have no excuse not to go.
There are plenty of café’s and restaurants for you to explore very near to the hotel. Staff are more than willing to help if you want to explore further afield.
When arriving at the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who offered me a refreshing fruit juice mocktail (always a welcome gesture!). The lower level of the hotel has a lounge area with a professional barista and a restaurant both of which are open to the public (the coffee here was exquisite, I would recommend especially after a long flight). This area acts as a refuge for anyone wanting to escape the heat and bustling streets outside. There are various board games and books scattered around the lounge area for both adults and children to enjoy. I especially liked the giant noughts and crosses board and a large book about architectural design around Barcelona! Children are given a small booklet to fill out when arriving at the hotel, this is a small activity designed to educate them about the building they are staying as well as Barcelona. Some questions are pretty tough and will require some help from the members of staff (who are more than willing to help). There is a spar located towards the upper levels of the hotel that is open to guests of the hotel.
The Family room was a good size and makes good use of the space it has. There were two double beds separated by a door so you can maintain privacy. Each room had its own large flat screen television and they even provided a WII video game console and DVD player. You are given all the usual amenities like shower gels, toothpaste/ toothbrush and even a bathrobe and flip-flops. There were also some extra treats for the kids to enjoy which was a nice touch. The family room was well decorated and kept consistent to the stylish feel of the rest of the hotel. The views from the room are spectacular and you can see over vast parts of Barcelona.
This is a top of the range hotel that delivers a stylish and luxurious experience right in the center of Barcelona so you can explore and enjoy the city without having to travel too far to find interesting and exciting spots.
