We spent a week at this hotel in Lanzarote over new year with our two boys, aged 4 and 8. The weather was absolutely amazing the whole time - we barely saw a cloud - and it was 23 degrees every day (when it was pouring with rain back in England!)
The hotel was great. Its big and has five restaurants, three swimming pools, a kids' pool, gym, kids' club, three bars, and lots of terraces for sunbathing overlooking the sea. The staff were great - there are masses of them constantly buzzing around cleaning up and making everything look nice and the food was very good. We had a junior suite, which consisted of a separate bedroom, living area and dining area. The living area had two sofa beds for the children. We also had two balconies.
The hotel is a couple of miles out of the centre of Playa Blanca, but you never need to leave the hotel if you don't want to and while Playa Blanca is a nice little town its nothing particularly special. However, we liked the island a lot and found its dry, laval landscape dramatic and exotic.
The roads on Lanzarote are very good and we hired a car for the week and explored. There is plenty to do if you want to get out and about - a volcanic national park, caves to explore, the market in Teguise, a really nice nature park near Puerto del Carmen (the Rancho Texas Park), the local artist and environmental campaigner Cesar Manrique's house and art foundation, plus beaches, cycling and hiking aplenty.
