"Lovely apartment, right on the slopes…"
I love Sainte Foy as a resort particularly for skiing with children and teens as it's usually uncrowded and very easy to navigate - you can't really get lost - but offers lots of different levels of skiing, great off piste if there's snow and easy access to some higher resorts like Val d'Isere, Tignes and Les Arcs if the snow's a bit iffy.
An apartment offers a more cost effective way of skiing than a catered chalet, plus you avoid the zillions of calories they bombard you with, and these ones are ideal - stylish, well appointed with great views of the slopes. They are also ski-in-ski out and there's a pool, (which is inevitably heaving at peak times between the slopes shutting and dinner time), a gym and a masseur on site.
It took us a while to get our head around everything - not least how to find the ski lockers - but when you get the hang of you realise they make life very easy. There is a bakery (fresh baguette every morning), catering service, laundry and you can loan out cots, highchairs, bottle warmers, socket guards, board games, electrical adapters, fondue, pierrade, dvd players and raclette sets.
One tip - take the essentials with you - especially if your are driving and can fit lots in. Things like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, olive oil, salt, pepper etc. to save you having to buy more than you need for the week.
