I bought this tablet for my daughter's 3rd birthday. I spent the evening setting it all up, getting to grips with the parental controls and charging it so that it's ready for her to use when she gets it.
Granted my daughter hasn't had chance to use it yet but I'm really impressed with it so far, it's responsive and easy to navigate and switch between the parent and child profiles. There is a time limit feature which is also easy to set. It comes with a chunky case (either blue or pink) which is easy for little hands to grip and also gives the tablet protection against being dropped or man handled.
The tablet comes with a years free subscription of Fire for Kids Unlimited which means there are literally thousands of games, apps and videos available to download for no extra cost, I think this service is really good value so there's a strong chance I will be continuing with the subscription once the freebie has ran out. From what I understand you do need to be connected to the internet to watch videos as it's similar to the likes of Netflix, but not for the apps or books. There are loads of educational and fun apps aimed at various ages, tonnes of books and tonnes of videos. There's also a 2 year worry free guarantee so if anything does happen to the tablet at the hands of a rambunctious toddler or child then they will replace it with no questions asked.
There's no way for them to access the internet browser on the child profile and there are no adverts or in-app purchases, something which really put me off going for a normal tablet such as the Hudl. I was originally going to get a Leappad but I discovered this which although the initial cost is more expensive, I have found it to be much better value in the long run, is less restrictive, there is more choice in terms of content and is more likely to last longer as it will grow with the child.
Over all I would definitely recommend this tablet for any child up to the age of around 9/10. It's fantastic and there are no worries about them accessing anything they shouldn't.
