"A portable, weighted feathered shuttlecock creation for ultimate outdoor/inside fun…"
This is a physical play item alternative to a ball like no other, for every child from five (when they've mastered hand/foot-eye coordination) through to adulthood!
Small, slimline and lightweight to carry, it's ideal to tuck away into the smallest of bags (or even a coat/blazer pocket!) on the off-chance that there's an opportunity for some 'kick about' fun. No need to be bored in the school playground, the park, the garden or even inside (if you've got a large enough playroom!), UKick offers tweens, teens and even adults sociable and healthy fun wherever they are and need to let off some steam!
It looks like a cross hybrid of a crazily colourful shuttlecock and a feather quill pen, with five small weight discs enabling players to adapt the UKick to their skill level (the more weights added the quicker it flies and the more dexterous and skilfully they must move to keep it in the air). It can be kicked, whacked and batted on one's own, as a game for two, four or even a much larger group - UKick rugby or football anyone?
It would strike me as ideal for break-time play at secondary schools, where boys in particular tend to need to engage in pack activities without the risk of broken windows or running foul of the teachers!
What's I liked about it (with a tween DD and teen DS) is that it's one of those rare items that's just as likely to appeal to girls as boys (particularly as one can go online to their website and customise the colours of the feathers and weights!!). Also because it's small and light, it can be played with across age-groups too, as the skill is in agility and dexterity rather than brute force!
Although the colourful four feather/small five disc weighted nature of it, gives the UKick an almost impractical appearance, we found it relatively robust. It's easy to pull apart to adjust the number of weights or even to do swapsies on feather colour, and yet holds firm when taken through its physical paces in even the roughest of play situations. The feathers can be wiped down easily too so their colour isn't dimmed by a mud-bath or two!
AND it retails at a pocket money friendly purchase price of circa
