I was sent a Rockin’ Baby reversible pouch for review purposes, however all opinions are my own.
In the past, I have had a baby wrap and a carrier that both require quite a bit of preparation and assistance to put on, so I was keen to have one that was simpler. I also planned to use the sling for my 8 month old who wants to be carried around a lot of the time, but can also sit on his own. It therefore needed to be quick to get baby in and out. I was pleased with the simplicity of the pouch design. After I watched an instructional video on their website, I chose the correct size setting using the zips. They are very easy to do up.
It is really important that you line the zips up across your back. If they are too near the shoulder, they will pull and strain. I have found that you put the zipped section behind you, and ensure that the part of the pouch over your shoulder has enough fabric to cover the whole shoulder.
Within a minute, my little boy was in the pouch for the first time. He really liked it straight away, and I have used it regularly over the last few months. He is now 11 months old now, not far off 10kg, is 77 cm tall and still enjoys a cuddle in the pouch. I have found it to be most useful if I need to move around but he either needs to be with me, or wants to be. For example, walking around the house and garden if he’s getting tired, not feeling well or just being a bit clingy. I also find it useful to have out and about, to nip from the car into a shop instead of using the buggy, or for when he gets fed up being in the buggy when we’ve gone for a walk (I can carry him and steer the buggy at the same time easily). The pouch helps to stabilise him when I’m carrying him as he's doesn’t tend to wriggle about quite as much in the pouch compared to just in my arms.
The material is of a good quality and washes up well. I like the design, and is easily reversible to a plain colour when my husband uses it and doesn’t fancy being adorned in floral.
This is a product I have been really pleased with and feel happy to recommend it.
