"Great way to make the most of the Olympic Park…"
MNHQ were invited to visit the Orbit tower.
The tower looks fantastic and is visible as you approach the park, giving lots of opportunities to debate who will make it to the top first, who will walk down, and who definitely isn't scared!
The site is right next to the Olympic stadium and all the other fun things to do in the park, and reaching the tower is really straightforward. A guide takes you up in the lift (there's no option to walk, which is a relief) and there are two viewing stations at the top.
The views are pretty panoramic, with interactive boards explaining all you see. We got a birds eye view of the stadium being transformed into a football ground too.
There are binoculars so you can zoom in art installations of mirrors, just in case the view's not your thing. Lots of outside space to appreciate the view, and then start your climb down. A lift will whiz you back, but the 400ish stairs aren't to strenuous. The red girders really do look fantastic, throughout the walk and you can imagine the tower becoming a really established part of the London skyline.
