"fantastic day out for all the family (including the 'bored' teens)…"
Just an easy 10 min walk from Burnley Central train station, Tompson park is set in superb surroundings with a lot more than a park and ice cream van too offer1 it boasts a brilliant park area with climbing frames, balance and exercise apparatus, a couple of slides and sets of swings, a HUGE sand box (which was supprisingly clean and i was happy to watch my 5 y/o dig around in for an hour or so). It even had one of those long, wooden rocking horses (that used to fit you and all your friends on) there! A miniature railway(£1pp and the by now, not 'bored' at all teen was happy too get on with his brother) is next to the play park and lasts for about 7 mins per circuit, with two circuits per ticket. An ample size paddling/wading pool (up to my middle shins at deepest), is situated on the other side of the play park, it is quite safely fenced all around, but NOT SUPERVISED AT ALL!
