Both I and my little girl love this story..at the moment it is the only bedtime story Lucie wants, and she now pretty much knows all the words with her favourite sentences been acted out.
The book is about a family of elephants, and it is the office dinner-dance, which Mrs Large has been looking forward to all year. However with 4 children, things don't go according to plan, with the baby trying on Mrs Large's make up, and the boys (Lester and Luke) trying to squeeze as many toys as possible into their mum's tights. All Mrs Large wants is one night to herself, one night where she can go out all in one piece. Maybe the madness reminds Lucie of our house. At the end, Mr & Mrs Large get to go out, with the sweet sentences, that Mrs Large is a smasher (Lucie's favourite sentence at the moment). Finally Mr Large says she would look good covered in jam and poster paint, which is just as well really...(and it is).
It's a beautiful story book, that is easy to read, with lovely pictures, even though it was first printed in the late 80's. I could not imagine not having this in Lucie's library..
