Author: Bryony Gordon
"A warm, funny and highly personal account…"
This is non-fiction but more like a novel to read, and I couldn’t put it down. It’s a warm, funny and highly personal account of the author’s mental health history, detailing her depression, her OCD, her bulimia and even her issues during pregnancy. Bryony Gordon is a successful journalist and a funny and intelligent woman, and her story made me question just what sanity is and whether any of us can really claim to be sane all the time. But perhaps the most interesting thing of all is that she describes how her mental health issues began in childhood – and mental health and young people is something we still hear surprisingly little about. I think most people will recognize some of the behaviours she describes (I certainly did, thinking back to myself and my friends at school!), and anyone who has children will find this essential reading.
