I've read an advanced review copy of this; it's up for pre-order just now.
This is a collection of short stories that travels through time, from ancient history to somewhere in the future. The stories are all really different, but there are some themes that are threaded through them all. They examine what it means to tell a story, how we manipulate others and what children really mean to parents. The longest story in the collection is a superb locked room mystery, Osloff and the Turk. It mixes up just enough historical fact to make you believe that it could have happened this way.
