"Gripping read set during the Second World War…"
This is the first of a brilliant series of adventures set during the second world war. It is realistic and gripping: a window on history. I love all the domestic detail mixed in with a tight, believable, fast-paced story. It is beautifully constructed, a really good read, and the scene when the children are in London during a bombing raid during the Blitz is so well written that you almost feel you are dodging falling roof tiles or javelin-slivers of flying window-glass. Thoroughly recommended.
