A wonderful, intimate and honest memoir that had me completely absorbed, so much so that I was very reluctant to put it down and leave for the hospital to give birth to my second baby! Compassionate and witty, this book gives the reader a truly insightful look at many issues such as women's rights, immigration and integration, via his family's experience of immigrating to the UK from India and their integration in British society. This story has really stayed with me and has given me much food for thought.

A beautifully written family memoir by Times journalist Sathnam Sanghera. He unweaves a tale that had me laughing on every page, whilst sensitively treating topics such as mental illness and illiteracy. A hillarious and accurate insight into British Asian culture and a great tribute to his hard working, long suffering mother.
