Switched On Families

Switched On Families is full of clear, honest, practical and even fun advice that will help your family get the best from the web.

From toddlers to teens, Virgin Media covers what is most relevant to your kids at every stage of their development. Virgin caught up with families with kids in each age group, and asked them about their online experiences. Here's what they had to say.

Handheld - 0-4

The web and digital technology can support developmental play and learning in loads of ways. At this age, it's likely that you're very involved in your child's online experience. They don't use the web unsupervised as you're there to hold their hand.

Playground - 5-10

Your kids are starting to use the web at home to play games and keep in touch with friends and family, but, just like in the playground, they aren't unsupervised.

You'll know the internet is a great tool to support children's education and development of real world skills, but just like in the real world, they might come across something you'd rather they didn't see.

On hand - 11-13

Your kids might have a smartphone and will be spending more time online to keep up with schoolwork and friends. They have some freedom, but you'll be on hand in case they run into any issues.

Switched On Families helps you support your kids to make the most of the internet, and also understand some of the risks that may come with increased freedom online.

In touch - 14+

Your kids are at a stage where they're likely to have their own profile and be using the latest apps, sites and games. You're helping them make the right choices about what they get up to online.

It's all about helping your kids develop a positive digital profile, and knowing how much is too much when it comes to time online.
