Another chance to win a £150 Matalan gift voucher
The changing face of modern families
A family-run business for thirty years, Matalan has always worked to support UK families by taking the time to listen, understand and evolve in order to make sure their products are the right fit for happy homes.
However, what's right for the modern family looks very different to what it did when Matalan first opened its doors three decades ago. That's why it has teamed up with leading behaviour expert, Mark Earls, and renowned creative director, Tom Hingston, to explore how the family unit is changing.
In partnership with Mark and Tom, Matalan has conducted national research and created a series of portraits to illustrate the rich and heart-warming truth of how the British Family is being reshaped and redefined to meet the demands of modern life.
Showcasing thirty real families from across the UK, Matalan is proud to
share the Made for Modern Families portrait series - 30 beautiful
family photos, one to mark every year of its history.

The definition of 'family' in the 21st century is not straightforward; as the Facebook status might suggest, "it's complicated". This doesn't mean that the idea of family has become any less important however, it simply means we are seeing that family today comes in many different shapes, sizes and forms.
To better understand modern family life in Britain, Matalan has, in partnership with behaviour expert Mark Earls, commissioned national research through international polling firm YouGov Plc. Their research reveals some interesting and surprising insights about modern family life, as seen in the infographics below...
