Chedds from Cathedral City

CheddsIf the sheer monotony of providing children's snacks and lunchbox contents drives you up the parenting wall, then Chedds - a brand new snacking range for kids - will cheer you up no end.

Chedds is a brand new kids' snack made from the nation's favourite cheese, Cathedral City*. With its characteristic smooth, mild flavour, Chedds is tasty, nutritious and great for growing children.

Made from 100% real Cheddar, Chedds is a great source of calcium, which is essential for strong teeth and bones, with each mini-pack containing at least 24% of the RNI (Reference Nutrient Intake) for children aged seven to ten years.

Top tips for fussy eaters

CheddsEver found yourself frustrated when one of your DCs refuses your homemade dinners, or when a lunchbox comes back from school untouched? Well, you're not alone, as many mums know exactly how you're feeling!

Chedds asked MNers to tell us their tips and advice for fussy eaters and you did not disappoint. These are a selection of our top tips:

  • Make sure you all eat the same thing, and eat together – children will try new things if they see you eat it first
  • Hide finely chopped, grated or diced veg in everything from courgettes in curry and pasta sauce, to putting swede in mashed potato, or try covering veg with toppings like a tomato sauce or grated cheese.
  • Make a pick 'n' mix plate with different sandwich toppings like hummus, meat, cheese, apple, then give them a choice of breads such as pitta and wraps, and let them make their own creations
  • Host a weekly fun food Friday! All the food has to be tried and children are encouraged to have a good go. And if they do, then they get to choose what they eat next time

Don't forget, if you're worried about your DC getting their recommended daily dose of nutrients, why not try Chedds Cheese and Toasties, Bricks or Nibbles as an after school snack or treat in their lunchbox? Each mini-pack contains at least 24% of the RNI* of calcium for children aged seven to 10, so even for the fussiest of eaters, you can be sure you're giving them a snack they'll love - with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. *Reference Nutrient Intake

Varieties available

Chedds is the long-awaited perfect solution to lunchbox and snacking dilemmas and, whilst they'll enjoy the taste and fun formats available, you'll be happy that they're getting something natural and nutritious into their hungry tums.

Chedds is real cheese, cut straight from a block of Cathedral City Mild Cheddar with nothing added, no messing around - just delicious ways for children to enjoy great tasting Cheddar snacks.

Chedds is available in three child-friendly varieties:

  • Cheese and Toasties – mini slices of real Cheddar and melba toast
  • Nibbles – a mini bag of bite sized Cheddar cubes that kids will love to share
  • Bricks – mini blocks of Cheddar that are perfect for kids on the go

All three variants come in multi pack format and are individually wrapped, making it easy for you to pop into a lunchbox or school bag, ensuring that kids can enjoy the great taste and goodness of Chedds. As well as tasting great, each pack has the cheeky Chedds mouse and a fun fact or joke that children can swap with their friends.

Nutritional value

All Chedds variants fit within the School Food Trust nutrient targets for lunchboxes and because they're made from 100% Cheddar, they're a source of protein and fall within the 'essential' food group (dairy) that should be included in a lunchbox every day.

Independent nutritionist Juliette Kellow says: "It is essential for children's growth that they have a varied and balanced diet; however, it's important to keep them excited by what they eat. Cheddar is a great source of calcium and protein to keep bones strong and healthy and the lunchbox snacking format makes Chedds fun, as well as tasty and nutritious."

Available from major supermarkets nationwide, manufacturer's recommended retail price is £1.99 per multi-pack of Chedds.
