Barclaycard - rewarding families

We know that squeezing family treats into your everyday budget can be hard work, so Barclaycard has teamed up with Kirsty Gallacher, mum to Oscar and Jude, to share her experiences on how to afford the treats that really matter to you and your family.

The average UK family spends one-in-three pounds of their budget on the weekly shop and filling up the car. Earning reward points on this spending can therefore quickly add up to substantial savings.
Many of us already collect points through store reward programmes which is a great way of making sure you get something back for the shopping you do.

Making purchases using a cashback or reward credit card means you get even more. So not, only do you get the points in the individual stores you collect them in, you'll also get rewarded for paying for things in and out of these stores. We call it 'double dipping' – twice the opportunity to get rewarded. Paying off your credit card bill in full every month will make sure you avoid any interest on your spending and leave you free to take advantage of your saved reward points.

Simple, easy, rewards on everyday spending

The Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card allows you to make the most of the family budget, helping you earn money toward family treats without changing your spending habits.

The Freedom Rewards card is designed to give you the most points on your everyday essentials. You earn one Freedom point per pound on all your spend and two Freedom points on the weekly shop and filling up the card at any UK supermarket or petrol station.

And that's not all; collect three Freedom points per pound when you spend at BHS, Strada, Bella Italia, Goldsmiths, Café Rouge and Currys PC World. So you see, points can add up quickly and if you put all your spend on the card it won't take long to get to 1,750 Freedom points which is enough to get a £5 Freedom Rewards voucher to spend at over 70 Freedom partners including top high street stores, online favourites, restaurants, family days out and much more.

Now is the perfect time to apply for a Freedom Rewards card because if you spend more than £500 in the first three months you'll enjoy a £30 Freedom Rewards welcome bonus. The card is completely fee free and you don't need to spend more to get more: simply use your card every day for what you usually buy and see your rewards mount up.

The Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card Representative APR is 18.9% (variable), Purchase rate APR 18.9% p.a. (variable), based on borrowing £1,200 and repaying over 12 months. Applications are subject to status. Actual credit limit offered will be based on individual circumstances.

 Family rewards all wrapped up

This Christmas we're all looking for a little extra, and the Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card is the perfect way to stretch your spending. In the run up to the big day we've teamed up with TV presenter Kirsty Gallagher to share her favourite festive family treats.

"It's safe to say Christmas is a big event in the Gallagher household, with lots of friends and family to buy for. We often only think to put our bigger purchases on our credit cards, but remember to use it on your everyday essentials such as decorations and wrapping paper too as your points will add up really quickly."

WH Smith is just one of 70 Freedom partners and every year sells enough wrapping paper to get from London to Santa's Grotto at the North Pole…and back again!
