Share Community is holding an Open Day for any professionals, parents or carers who support a disabled adult who is looking for his or her next step in education or employment.
This Open Day will focus on Share's Independent Living Skills programme, specially designed to help disabled people become more confident and independent, empowering them to make their own choices and take control of their lives.
You'll have a chance to take a look at our facilities, including our digital, interactive Immersive Learning Centre, and you'll have an opportunity to talk with senior managers, tutors, staff and current students about life at Share, and find out how you can refer someone to study at Share.
If you don’t know us so well, Share is a local registered charity based in Wandsworth in London that works across the boroughs to provide training and employment support for disabled adults, including those with learning disabilities, physical/sensory impairments, autism and mental health needs. We provide accredited training courses in independent living skills, basic skills (English and maths), catering, horticulture and digital skills.
In addition, we run a number of courses and activities aimed at personal development and health and wellbeing, such as music, yoga, Zumba and creative writing, as well as a fun social programme for those with learning disabilities called Go Anywhere, Do Anything. We also operate two social enterprises – Share Catering and Share Gardening – to provide valuable safe and supported work experience and a pathway into employment for our students.
We focus on ability, which means we focus on what people can do, not what holds them back, and we believe everyone has something to offer others.
