Calre Country Park is unique in having the remains of a Victorian railway station located within the grounds of what was once a Norman 'Motte and Bailey' Castle. In addition to exploring these important remains our walks and trails will take you through wildlife rich areas including woodland, grassland and waterside. Stroll along the riverside path or along a disused railway line that is now a haven for wild flowers and 'mini beasts'. Then climb to the top of the castle ruins to get a fine view over Clare.
Colourful interactive displays are contained within former railway buildings, which chart the parks history. There's plenty of open space for games and a picnic and the adventure play area. The park also runs a popular year-round programme of entertaining and educational events including themed treasure trails for children, outdoor theatre and heritage events.
