On Saturday 1 April, Handmade Cinema brings Matilda’s books, Bruce Bogtrotter’s giant chocolate cake, Mr Wormwood’s cars and Danny DeVito’s 1996 film to The Jubilee Centre, Wilson Road.

Roald Dahl’s classic novel will come to life with an afternoon of craft activities, themed-refreshments, magic tricks, handmade scenery, face painting, books-a-plenty and a pop-up film screening. Audience members will be invited into a decorated space where they can enjoy reading stories like Matilda, eating cake like Bruce, plaiting hair like Amanda Thripp and watching a film like the Wormwood family.

Handmade Cinema will be joined on 1 April by children’s book shop Rhyme & Reason with a special book stall to help children start a new reading journey. And don’t miss our special Launch Party on Saturday 4 March at Broomhill Library where local children’s author Berlie Doherty will be reading an extract from the novel and there will be musical storytelling and art activities too.

Times and prices are subject to change. Contact venue before setting out.
