Nottingham Council House on Old Market Square is the most iconic building in the City, second only perhaps to the Castle. It has been ‘the heart of the City’ for over 80 years and the splendour of its wonderful art-deco interior has many an interesting tale to tell. It is not a museum but a living, working building.

Find out why part of what is now the Council House ran with blood for centuries; who was the ‘lady’ that has welcomed visitors for more than 80 years; and what is the ‘secret’ that helps sound-proof the Council Chamber?

This is a fascinating part of Nottingham’s heritage and is a ‘must’ for locals and visitors alike – and is completely free!

Tours of the Council House by our Guild of Honorary Alderman are available. We regret that we will no longer be offering tours of the Council House on Sunday mornings. You can still book a tour, simply complete the booking form via the link above and we’ll get back to you.

Please note however that as the Council House is a busy working building, it may not always be possible to have access to all of the floors/rooms on the date that you request.

Times and prices are subject to change. Contact venue before setting out.
