A fun and interactive session for little ones and their parents/carers. Little Playhouse sessions stimulate the senses by using music, movement, pretend and sensory play.
Sessions can be booked individually and turning up on the day may be possible if places are available, though checking in advance is recommended.
Every Monday, excluding Half Term (w/c 23rd October 2017).
The Playhouse invited Mumsnet to review Little Playhouse, so I took my two-year-old along on the 31st March 2014.
The session is an hour long, divided into three sections, linked by a theme to engage imaginations; introductory movement, circle and parachute activities; an ‘activity trail’ round five separate craft and discovery stations; then a story in the circle together before saying goodbye. Afterwards, free tea or coffee was available for the adults, with a section of the café-bar partitioned off for us and a table and little chairs set out for the children.
The preparation and creativity that went into this was impressive, with activities incorporating discovering, playing and happily making a mess, as well as more ‘traditional’ drawing and sticking crafts. The older children were engaged by the theme and followed the leaders round the trail, while younger ones followed their own preferences. Everyone appeared to have fun and created something that could be taken home. The built-in sociability worked well. The session length and format gives the feel of a cross between a class and a really well-planned playgroup.
Make sure they wear something washable!
