Lindisfarne Priory is situated on Holy Island ( also known as Lindisfarne ). The Island is cut off from the mainland twice a day by the incoming sea. Travelling across the causeway at low tide, you enter a beautiful and tranquil part of Northumberland. Lindisfarne Priory is an important part of early Christianity and was also the home of St Cuthbert. The island hasn't always had such a tranquil past and was often visited by the Vikings and Danes, travelling across the seas to terrorise the Northumbrians.
