Seaton Delaval Hall was designed by the same architect who designed Castle Howard and Blenheim Palace, Sir John Vanbrugh and is a fantastic example of English Baroque. The hall is a recent acquisition by the National Trust, after 14 months of fund raising and is still very much a work in progress, with new things to see with every visit.
The Delavals made their fortune through coal mining, salt production and glass production.
The hall was used during the Second World War to house prisoners of war.
There is a lovely woodland play area for children. A cafe and shop are also on site.
