When the Liverpool and Manchester Railway opened in 1830, it revolutionised passenger transportation with steam power, pioneered the growth of railway networks around the world, and brought locomotive manufacture to Manchester.
You can take a trip across the site of Liverpool Road Station, the first passenger station and the oldest surviving railway station in the world, behind one of our steam locomotives – a replica of Robert Stephenson's Planet, or the restored Agecroft No. 1.
