The London Fire Brigade pop-up museum will provide a rare opportunity to find out more about the history of the Brigade in Lambeth. The museum will be returning home to Albert Embankment and this exhibition explores key events which connect the site to the history and development of London’s fire service. Visitors will have a rare opportunity to see part of the Brigade’s video and photographic archives and will also be able to view modern day fire engines.
The Brigade’s museum, regularly described as one of London’s ‘hidden gems’, had been located on Southwark Bridge Road since 1966 until its doors closed for the last time in September 2015 in readiness for its new home due to be built at the listed former headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment — the original home of the museum prior to 1966.
