Founded in October 2011, Block 336 is an artist-run project space, studio provider and UK registered charity. Located in Brixton, South London Block 336 hosts one of the largest, non-institutional and architecturally unique spaces in London. The organisation aims to promote engagement and critical discussion of contemporary art, with an emphasis on collaboration and cross-practice dialogue.
Block 336 is committed to providing a platform for established and emerging artists; providing artists the freedom to experiment and test new ideas without the pressures of gallery sales or the limitations of conventional exhibition spaces. We provide opportunities for ambitious projects, providing a sympathetic and supportive environment for the development of new work. Artists are encouraged to create site-specific installations as an extension of their representative work.
Block 336 aims to advance education in the arts with a particular emphasis on persons with disabilities. We collaborate with a number of local charities to provide person-led workshops for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems.
