Yogiki (“Yo-gi-ki” or “Yo-zhee-kee” which in Russian also means “little hedgehogs”) is children’s yoga club that runs weekly classes in Kingston.
Kids’ yoga is fun, creative and non-competitive and the use of animated poses and basic stretching exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Breathing and visualisation techniques teach children how to focus, relax and develop self-control.
The classes are designed with 2 to 5 year olds in mind and being held in a warm, caring, friendly and encouraging atmosphere. They last 45 minutes and include playing fun yoga games, storytelling, dancing, listening to music, singing yogi rhymes and songs, doing yoga-related art and practicing gentle meditation and relaxation. In other words we practice yoga – a union of the mind, body, and spirit – in a really fun and engaging way, the way children understand and accept with pleasure.
I would also be delighted to teach private 121 and family classes from the comfort of your home or bring a practice as a part of your kids’ birthday party to give them and their little guests a taste of how yoga could enhance their health, happiness and learning potential.
